Nestin Expression as a Diagnostic and Prognostic Marker in Colorectal Cancer and Other Tumors

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Oncology, 2021
Lung cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer are the leading causes of death in developed countries. Many cancers display non-specific signs in the early stage of the disease, thus making early diagnosis often difficult.

Nestin-Cre activity and Nestin expression.

open access: yes, 2013
(A, B) Immunofluorescence for GFP and Nestin in 13.5dpc NestinCre; R26RYFP embryo. Ventral diencephalon (VD) (A) and Ratkhe's pouch (RP) (B). Note that EYFP expression always correlates with that of Nestin within the CNS.

Nestin and cluster of differentiation 146 expression in breast cancer: Predicting early recurrence by targeting metastasis?

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the expression of stem-cell markers nestin and cluster of differentiation 146 with clinicopathological characteristics in breast cancer and to determine whether a prognostic impact of ...

Expression of Intermediate Filament Nestin in Blood Vessels of Neural and Non-neural Tissues

open access: yesActa Medica, 2008
Our previous findings performed in rat tissues demonstrated that intermediate filament nestin is expressed in endothelial cells of newly formed blood vessels of developing organs and neural transplants.

Nestin and CD34 expression in colorectal cancer predicts improved overall survival. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
BACKGROUND Nestin, a class VI intermediate filament protein of the cytoskeleton, and CD34, a transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein, are markers of progenitor cells.

Engineering Pluripotent Stem Cells‐Derived Inner Ear Organoids With Enhanced Maturation and Reproducibility by Micro‐Topographical Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐topographical cues applied through temporally controlled microscale confinement improve the reproducibility, spatial organization, and neurosensory‐associated features of pluripotent stem cell‐derived inner ear organoids. Integration with a vascularized organoid platform further enables controlled investigation of vascular‐epithelial interactions

Nestin-Expressing Cells in the Lung: The Bad and the Good Parts

open access: yesCells, 2021
Nestin is a member of the intermediate filament family, which is expressed in a variety of stem or progenitor cells as well as in several types of malignancies.

Bottom‐Up Engineering of a Human Neuromuscular System for Modeling Activity‐Induced Remodeling, Metabolic Stress, and Endothelial‐Modulated Excitability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using a bottom‐up approach, we engineered a human neuromuscular microchip to investigate distinct adaptive responses to neural stimulation and metabolic stress. Further integration of endothelial cells revealed their critical role in modulating neuromuscular excitability, establishing a comprehensive neurovascular‐muscular model.

Nestin expression associates with poor prognosis and triple negative phenotype in locally advanced (T4) breast cancer

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Histochemistry, 2011
Nestin, an intermediate filament protein, has traditionally been noted for its importance as a neural stem cell marker. However, in recent years, expression of nestin has shown to be associated with general proliferation of progenitor cell populations ...
