Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Reply to "Comment on the value of tax shields is NOT equal to the present value of tax shields" [PDF]
The Comment is thought provoking and helps a lot in rethinking the value of tax shields. However, the conclusion of Fieten, Kruschwitz, Laitenberger, Löffler, Tham, Vélez-Pareja and Wonder (2005) is not correct because, as will be proven below, the main ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Uncertain Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem with Net Present Value Criterion
On the basis of uncertainty theory, plenty of researches have been done on uncertain resource-constrained project scheduling problems. Instead of minimizing the makespan, in this paper, we address the maximization of net present value of a project’s cash

Value of tax shields and the risk of the net increase of debt, The. Year 2004 [PDF]
The value of tax shields depends on the nature of the stochastic process of the net increase of debt; it does not depend on the nature of the stochastic process of the free cash flow.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Recently, much focus has been given to a new type of chemical production plant, with the aim of a much faster time-to-market (“50% idea”) and better cash-flow revenue. The main enabling technology is to have the plants pre-manufactured and assembled by a
