Ruptured Suprasellar Dermoid Cyst presenting with Chemical Meningitis and Blindness

open access: yesNational Board of Examinations Journal of Medical Sciences
Background: Intracranial dermoid cysts (ICDC) are rare benign lesions. They typically originate from the ectoderm and contain dermal elements like hair follicles, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, and sometimes teeth.

Renal Dysfunction and In‐Hospital Outcomes in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke After Intravenous Thrombolytic Therapy

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2019
Background The impact of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) on clinical short‐term outcomes after stroke thrombolysis with tissue plasminogen activator remains controversial.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Autoantibody-mediated neurological diseases

open access: yes, 2020
Autoimmune neurological diseases are an expanding group of phenotypically characteristic, potentially treatable syndromes. A number of these conditions are mediated by autoantibodies.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Trigeminal neuralgia and posterior fossa meningioma: case report and review of literature

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2019
Trigeminal neuralgia may be idiopathic or may involve other causes. It can be secondary to posterior fossa tumors many times. In the present case, posterior fossa meningioma was detected with trigeminal neuralgia together. However, relevant meningioma is

The potential roles of m6A modification in regulating the inflammatory response in microglia

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2021
Background Microglia are key regulators of the inflammatory response in the brain. Adenosine in RNAs can be converted to m6A (N6-methyladenosine), which regulates RNA metabolism and functions as a key epitranscriptomic modification.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
