Ehrlich Tumor Induces TRPV1-Dependent Evoked and Non-Evoked Pain-like Behavior in Mice

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2022
We standardized a model by injecting Ehrlich tumor cells into the paw to evaluate cancer pain mechanisms and pharmacological treatments. Opioid treatment, but not cyclooxygenase inhibitor or tricyclic antidepressant treatments reduces Ehrlich tumor pain.

Neuropathy in prediabetes

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, 2023
AbstractDiabetic neuropathies are the most frequent complications of diabetes, contributing to high morbidity, excess mortality, reduced quality of life, and increased healthcare costs. Prediabetes is characterised by glucose levels within an intermediate range above normoglycaemia yet below the diagnostic threshold for diabetes. In 2021, 10.6% and 6.2%

Therapeutic activity of lipoxin A4 in TiO2-induced arthritis in mice: NF-κB and Nrf2 in synovial fluid leukocytes and neuronal TRPV1 mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
BackgroundLipoxin A4 (LXA4) has anti-inflammatory and pro-resolutive roles in inflammation. We evaluated the effects and mechanisms of action of LXA4 in titanium dioxide (TiO2) arthritis, a model of prosthesis-induced joint inflammation and pain ...

Diabetic Neuropathy

open access: yesExperimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes, 2014
Neuropathies related to diabetes mellitus can affect 60-70% of patients with diabetes. These can include peripheral polyneuropathies, mononeuropathies, and autonomic neuropathies. Control of glucose, lipids, and hypertension and cessation of smoking can limit onset and progression of these neuropathies. Besides control of the above listed risk factors,

Formulated Curcumin Prevents Paclitaxel-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy through Reduction in Neuroinflammation by Modulation of α7 Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Paclitaxel is widely used in the treatment of various types of solid malignancies. Paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy (PIPN) is often characterized by burning pain, cold, and mechanical allodynia in patients.

Trench Foot or Non-Freezing Cold Injury As a Painful Vaso-Neuropathy: Clinical and Skin Biopsy Assessments

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2017
BackgroundTrench foot, or non-freezing cold injury (NFCI), results from cold exposure of sufficient severity and duration above freezing point, with consequent sensory and vascular abnormalities which may persist for years.

[Ru(bpy)2(NO)SO3](PF6), a Nitric Oxide Donating Ruthenium Complex, Reduces Gout Arthritis in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
Monosodium urate crystals (MSU) deposition induces articular inflammation known as gout. This disease is characterized by intense articular inflammation and pain by mechanisms involving the activation of the transcription factor NFκB and inflammasome ...

Upregulation of microRNA 344a-3p is involved in curcumin induced apoptosis in RT4 schwannoma cells

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2018
Background Schwannoma arising from peripheral nervous sheaths is a benign tumor. Methods To evaluate cell cytotoxicity, (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) tetrazolium reduction and terminal deoxynucleotidyltransferase UTP nick-

Kaurenoic Acid Reduces Ongoing Chronic Constriction Injury-Induced Neuropathic Pain: Nitric Oxide Silencing of Dorsal Root Ganglia Neurons

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2023
Kaurenoic acid (KA) is a diterpene extracted from Sphagneticola trilobata (L.) Pruski. KA presents analgesic properties. However, the analgesic activity and mechanisms of action of KA in neuropathic pain have not been investigated so far; thus, we ...
