Changes in the tissue concentrations of several neuropeptides in porcine intestines and intestine-innervating ganglia in the course of porcine proliferative enteropathy

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2018
Inflammatory processes are associated with changes in the interplay of different pro- and anti-inflammatory factors, including neuropeptides, in tissue.

A study of association between genetic markers in candidate genes and reproductive traits in one generation of a commercial broiler breeder hen population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Markers of alleles for three physiological candidate genes for reproductive traits, growth hormone (GHR), gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GNRHR) and neuropeptide Y (NPY) were assessed for the association with the total egg production, number of ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Effects of single-dose neuropeptide Y on levels of hippocampal BDNF, MDA, GSH, and NO in a rat model of pentylenetetrazole-induced epileptic seizure

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine, 2013
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders, characterized by recurrent seizures, which may increase the content of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

EFFECT OF ALPHA TOCOPHEROL ON CHRONIC STRESS INDUCED DERANGEMENTS INN NEUROPEPTIDEY ON SPRAGUE DAWLEY RATS

open access: yesPakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal, 2020
Objective: To determine the chronic stress induced decline in plasma Neuropeptide Y (NPY) level and protective effects of Alpha Tocopherol (AT) on maintenance of Neuropeptide Y level. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study.

Neuropeptide y in sympathetic nerves — evidence for Y1 receptor mediated vascular control

open access: yes, 1997
This chapter discusses the role of neuropeptide Y (NPY) in sympathetic neurotransmission and cardiovascular disorders. The release of transmitters—adenosine triphosphate (ATP), noradrenaline (NA), NPY—from sympathetic nerves is influenced by ...

The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...

Heat Stress Biomarker Amino Acids and Neuropeptide Afford Thermotolerance in Chicks

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2019
With global warming, heat stress is becoming a pressing concern worldwide. In chickens, heat stress reduces food intake and growth, and increases body temperature and stress responses.
