The native and physico-chemically treated fungal biomasses of Neurospora intermedia were used for adsorption of colored pollutants from distillery spent wash in batch systems. Experiments were conducted at varying color concentrations of the effluent (1,000-6,500 CU).

Characterization of several mitochondrial variants of natural isolates of Neurospora intermedia
2010A survey of natural isolates of N. intermedia revealed five variants with respect to growth phenotype. These variants showed stop-start behavior in growth tubes, sometimes never attaining the full tube length. These strains are mainly.female sterile. The stop-start phenotype was not transmitted via the male parent in any cross. In two crosses, maternal

During a survey of mitochondrial DNA plasmids in natural populations of Neurospora intermedia and Neurospora crassa. many new mitochondrial plasmids, both linear and circular, were found. Also, new circular and linear plasmids appeared to arise spontaneously from existing plasmids.
