A numerical method for calculating the driven current of neutral beam injection in tokamaks

open access: yesAIP Advances
The current driven by neutral beam injection in tokamak is calculated, and the slowing-down distribution function of the fast ion is obtained by the backward Euler iteration method, including the pitch angle scattering collision.

Advanced neutral beam injection in a field-reversed configuration plasma

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Neutral beam injection has been shown to create field-reversed configuration plasmas on C-2W. Recent advances in optimization and control of eight neutral beam injectors help deliver customized current drive for a plethora of plasma regimes.

Cavity-Enhanced Photodetachment of H− as a Means to Produce Energetic Neutral Beams for Plasma Heating

open access: yesAtoms, 2019
Neutral beam injection, for plasma heating, will supposedly be achieved, in ITER, by collisional detachment of a pre-accelerated D − beam. Collisional detachment, however, makes use of a D 2 -filled neutralisation chamber, which has ...

Enhancing Direct Solar Water Splitting via ALD of Multifunctional TiO2/Pt Nanoparticle Coatings With Engineered Interfaces to GaAs/GaInP Tandem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional atomic layer deposited coatings and interface treatments enhance direct solar water splitting on GaAs/GaInP tandem cells. Optimized TiO2/Pt nanoparticle bilayers ensure durability and catalytic efficiency with minimal optical losses, while H2 plasma pretreatments maximize photovoltage and interfacial charge extraction.

4D and 5D phase-space tomography using slowing-down physics regularization

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
We compute reconstructions of 4D and 5D fast-ion phase-space distribution functions in fusion plasmas from synthetic projections of these functions. The fast-ion phase-space distribution functions originating from neutral beam injection (NBI) at TCV and ...

Beam Probe Imaging of Electron Density in the Chaotic Region of CHS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A neutral lithium beam probe (LiBP) for the Compact Helical System (CHS) has been extended to a two-dimensional imaging diagnostic (2-D-LiBP). Two-dimensional image of the plasma structure in the edge and separatrix region of the l = 2 helical device is ...

Destabilization of counter-propagating Alfvénic instabilities by tangential, co-current neutral beam injection

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2018
Injection of high-energy neutrals is a common tool to heat the plasma and drive current non-inductively in fusion devices. Once neutrals ionize, the resulting energetic particles can drive instabilities that are detrimental for the performance and the ...
