Serological evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in dromedary camels and domestic bovids in Oman

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2023
SARS-CoV-2 has demonstrated the ability to infect a wide range of animal species. Here, we investigated SARS-CoV-2 infection in livestock species in Oman and provided serological evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in cattle, sheep, goats, and dromedary ...

Testing for Neutrality in Samples With Sequencing Errors [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 2008
AbstractMany data sets one could use for population genetics contain artifactual sites, i.e., sequencing errors. Here, we first explore the impact of such errors on several common summary statistics, assuming that sequencing errors are mostly singletons. We thus show that in the presence of those errors, estimators of θ can be strongly biased.

THE NEUTRALIZATION TEST IN POLIOMYELITIS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1935
In experiments devised to compare the neutralizing action of normal adult human sera on different strains of poliomyelitis virus, and to fill in certain gaps in our series of neutralization tests with different strains of virus on different types of cases in different age groups, we have made the following observations. 1. The difference

Monitoring of Sotrovimab-Levels as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis in Kidney Transplant Recipients Not Responding to SARS-CoV-2 Vaccines

open access: yesViruses, 2023
Background Sotrovimab, a monoclonal antibody against SARS-CoV-2, is used as a pre-exposition prophylaxis (PrEP) against COVID-19, but monitoring strategies using routine test systems have not been defined.

Neutralization tests with varicella-zoster virus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hygiene, 1969
SUMMARYA technique for neutralization tests using varicella-zoster virus propagated in primary human thyroid cells is described. The level of neutralizing antibody following chickenpox does not usually exceed a titre of 1/40 and in adults many years after infection it may be very low.

A single, continuous metric to define tiered serum neutralization potency against HIV

open access: yeseLife, 2018
HIV-1 Envelope (Env) variants are grouped into tiers by their neutralization-sensitivity phenotype. This helped to recognize that tier 1 neutralization responses can be elicited readily, but do not protect against new infections.

Clinical Utility of SARS-CoV-2 Serological Testing and Defining a Correlate of Protection

open access: yesVaccines, 2023
Herein, we review established clinical use cases for SARS-CoV-2 antibody measures, which include diagnosis of recent prior infection, isolating high titer convalescent plasma, diagnosing multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), and booster ...

Sensitive neutralization test for rubella antibody [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1979
A modified rubella virus plaque neutralization test for measuring rubella antibody was developed based on the potentiation of the virus-antibody complex by heterologous anti-immunoglobulin. The test is highly sensitive, yielding titers on the average 50 to 100 times higher than the haemagglutination inhibition test or the conventional plaque ...

IgG antibodies against phospholipase A2 from Crotalus durissus terrificus: cross-reaction with venoms from Bothrops species from Argentina

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2009
We examined the ability of IgG anti-crotalic PLA2 to cross-react with Bothrops spp. venoms, from snakes found in the northeast of Argentina. Immunoblotting and ELISA tests showed that IgG anti-crotalic PLA2 recognize antigens of bothropic venoms ...

Kinetics of Serologic Responses to MERS Coronavirus Infection in Humans, South Korea

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2015
We investigated the kinetics of serologic responses to Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection by using virus neutralization and MERS-CoV S1 IgG ELISA tests.
