A Cation-π Interaction in the Binding Site of the Glycine Receptor Is Mediated by a Phenylalanine Residue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Cys-loop receptor binding sites characteristically contain many aromatic amino acids. In nicotinic ACh and 5-HT3 receptors, a Trp residue forms a cation-{pi} interaction with the agonist, whereas in GABAA receptors, a Tyr performs this role.

[18F]Fluorodeprenyl‐D2 PET as a Tool to Monitor Disease Activity in GAD65‐Ab Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate [18F]fluorodeprenyl‐D2 ([18F]F‐DED) positron‐emission tomography (PET) imaging as a biomarker of disease activity in autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibodies. Methods [18F]F‐DED PET was performed in 25 GAD65‐AIE patients and 8 controls using dynamic (0–60 min) and ...

Chromium (III) complexes and their relationship to the glucose tolerance factor : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Two forms of the dinicotinate complex Cr(nic)2(H2O)3OH were formed which were yellow and blue, respectively. For the yellow form the nicotinic acid ligands were coordinated via the pyridine ring nitrogen atom but this complex was biologically inactive ...

Interfacial Modulation for High‐Efficiency Large‐Area Organic Photovoltaics and Perovskite‐Organic Tandem Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

Deprotonative C(sp3)/C(sp2)–H (Multi)Silylation of (Hetero)Arenes Mediated by NaTMP

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An operationally simple protocol using a strongly basic sodium amide in combination with sterically emcumbered silicon electrophiles enables the deprotonative C–H (multi)silylation of a myriad of (hetero)arenes. Mechanistic investigations highlight the pivotal role of steric and coordination effects in controlling the regioselectivity and efficiency of

Mapping the Cerebral Organoid Landscape: A Systematic Review of Preclinical 3D Models in Neuroscience

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Cerebral organoids are transforming brain research, yet the field remains fragmented. This comprehensive systematic review maps 738 studies published between 2014 and 2024 to uncover trends, gaps, and opportunities across neuroscience. Introducing OrganoidMap—an interactive, open‐access platform to explore and compare models—this work enables ...

Recent Trends in Metabolomics by NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
AI tools were applied to analyze more than 5 000 publications indexed in Scopus (2018–2025), identifying key trends and research directions in NMR‐based metabolomics. The artificial intelligence‐assisted workflow classified papers into six main fields of application, human health, food and nutrition, veterinary science, plants, environment, and ...
