In Rhizobium Japonicum the Nifh and Nifdk Genes are Separated

1984
We have shown previously that a cloned HindIII restriction fragment from Rhizobium japonicum 3I1b 110 contains the nitrogenase structural genes nifD and nifK (Fig. 1). However, we have not obtained evidence for the existence of the gene for nitrogenase reductase (nifH) adjacent to th nifDK cluster.

Identification and characterization of the nifH and nifH promoter regions located on the nif-plasmid pEA3 of Enterobacter agglomerons 333

Gene, 1989
Small restriction fragments of the plasmid-borne Enterobacter agglomerans 333 nif region were cloned into a promoter probe plasmid as transcriptional fusions with the lacZ gene. Identification of NifA-dependent promoters was accomplished by using a compatible plasmid which constitutively expresses the Klebsiella pneumoniae nifA gene. beta-Galactosidase

Quantitative Analysis of nifH Genes and Transcripts from Aquatic Environments

2005
The availability of fixed inorganic nitrogen often plays a fundamental role in regulating primary production in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Because biological nitrogen fixation is an important source of nitrogen in marine environments, the study of N2-fixing microorganisms is of fundamental importance to our understanding of global ...

Evaluation of PCR primers for universal nifH gene targeting and for assessment of transcribed nifH pools in roots of Oryza longistaminata with and without low nitrogen input.

FEMS microbiology ecology, 2008
The bias of widely used degenerate nifH-specific primer sets was first tested using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), and their application for profiling of complex communities assessed for roots of Oryza longistaminata. When primers (P) with mismatches at nondegenerate positions were used on genomic DNA of Azotobacter vinelandii, which ...

[Study of nucleotide sequences of nifH genes in methanotrophic bacteria].

Mikrobiologiia, 2002
Using a previously developed primer system, nifH gene fragments 450 nucleotides long were amplified, cloned, and sequenced for representatives of nitrogen-fixing methanotrophic bacteria of the genera Methylococcus, Methylocystis and Methylosinus. Fragments of nifH genes were also detected and sequenced in representatives of the genera Methylomonas and ...
