ANKS1B in the Nucleus Accumbens Controls Escalated Cocaine Self‐Administration via Regulating CBP‐FoxO3 Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ANKS1B in the nucleus accumbens plays a critical role in the transition from controlled to escalated cocaine intake. Mechanistically, ANKS1B interacts with CBP to epigenetically suppress FoxO3 through H3K27 acetylation. The ANKS1B‐CBP‐FoxO3 signaling cascade presents a novel theraputic target for the treatment of cocaine addiction.

General anesthesia with propofol for ovarian teratoma excision associated with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis

open access: yesJA Clinical Reports, 2018
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune disorder caused by production of anti-NMDAR antibodies that is often associated with ovarian teratoma and exhibits various manifestations including psychiatric symptoms, seizures ...

Relapses, Comorbidities, and Predictors of Outcome in Anti‐GABAA Receptor Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objectives To characterize the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesion dynamics, comorbidities, predictors of relapse, and outcomes in anti‐γ‐aminobutyric acid type A receptor (GABAAR) encephalitis, and assess the utility of LIM‐domain‐only‐protein 5 (LMO5) antibodies as tumor markers.

Anti-NMDAR Antibodies in Demyelinating Diseases

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction: Antibodies against N-methyl D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) are directly pathogenic autoantibodies associated with encephalitis. Cases reporting the presence of anti-NMDAR antibodies associated with a demyelinating disease have been ...

Stress hormone rapidly tunes synaptic NMDA receptor through membrane dynamics and mineralocorticoid signalling

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Stress hormones, such as corticosteroids, modulate the transmission of hippocampal glutamatergic synapses and NMDA receptor (NMDAR)-dependent synaptic plasticity, favouring salient behavioural responses to the environment.

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of intravenous and oral (S)‐ketamine: Investigating metabolite contribution to subjective effects

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Oral administration of (S)‐ketamine for treatment‐resistant depression (TRD), as alternative to the registered intranasal or off‐label intravenous administrations, has high potential. However, it is characterized by an extensive first‐pass metabolism, resulting in low (S)‐ketamine exposure and high levels of active metabolites, including (S ...

Structural and functional mechanisms of anti-NMDAR autoimmune encephalitis

open access: yes
Autoantibodies against neuronal membrane proteins can manifest in autoimmune encephalitis, inducing seizures, cognitive dysfunction and psychosis. Anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is the most dominant autoimmune encephalitis ...

Image_1_Differentially Altered NMDAR Dependent and Independent Long-Term Potentiation in the CA3 Subfield in a Model of Anti-NMDAR Encephalitis.TIF

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: Autoantibodies against NMDA receptors (NMDAR) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from anti-NMDAR encephalitis patients have been suggested to be pathogenic since in previous studies using patient CSF, NMDAR-dependent processes such as long-term ...

Pyruvate dehydrogenase autoantibodies in autoantibody‐negative patients with seizures are associated with reduced pyruvate dehydrogenase activity

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We investigated the presence and potential functional relevance of antimitochondrial autoantibodies in patients suspicious for autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with psychiatric symptoms and/or seizures, who were negative for known antineuronal autoantibodies.

The NMDAR-based model.

open access: yes, 2016
A. Schematic illustration of spike interactions in the NMDAR-based model. The presynaptic spike up-regulates frest, activates Mdn and depresses the synapse. The postsynaptic spike down-regulates frest, activates Mup and potentiates the synapse.
