Nobiletin: a citrus flavonoid displaying potent physiological activity
Acta Crystallographica Section C Structural Chemistry, 2016Nobiletin [systematic name: 2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5,6,7,8-tetramethoxy-4H-chromen-4-one; C21H22O8] is a flavonoid found in citrus peels, and has been reported to show a wide range of physiological properties, including anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antidementia activities. We have solved the crystal structure of nobiletin, which revealed that the

Protective effects of nobiletin on cisplatin induced neurotoxicity in rats
International Journal of Neuroscience, 2021This study was designed to investigate the possible antioxidant, antiapoptotic and neuroprotective effects of nobiletin on cisplatin-induced neurotoxicity rat model by evaluating neurotrophins, antioxidants and histopathology.Forty male Wistar Albino rats were divided into four groups: control, cisplatin (CIS), cisplatin + nobiletin (CIS + NOB) and ...

Characteristics of nobiletin-induced effects on jejunal contractility
Fitoterapia, 2014Nobiletin, a citrus polymethoxylated flavone, exhibits multiple biological properties including anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-insulin resistance effects. The present study found that nobiletin exerted significant stimulatory effects on the contractility of isolated rat jejunal segments in all 6 different low contractile states, and ...

Nobiletin attenuates acetaminophen‐induced hepatorenal toxicity in rats
Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, 2019AbstractThe study aimed to examine the effects of nobiletin on the toxicity model induced with acetaminophen (APAP). For this purpose, 24 adult male rats were equally divided into four groups. The groups were the control group (group 1); dimethyl sulfoxide only, the APAP group (group 2) received a single dose of APAP 1000 mg/kg on the 10th day of ...

Mechanism of Neurotrophic Action of Nobiletin in PC12D Cells
Biochemistry, 2005Nobiletin is a nonpeptide compound with a low molecular weight from a citrus fruit and has the activity to rescue bulbectomy-induced memory impairment. Here we describe that nobiletin itself induces neurite outgrowth in PC12D cells, a rat pheochromocytoma cell line, like NGF, and the molecular mechanism of its neurotrophic action.

Nobiletin enhances differentiation and lipolysis of 3T3-L1 adipocytes
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007Nobiletin is a polymethoxylated flavone found in certain citrus fruits. Here we demonstrate that nobiletin enhance differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. Nobiletin dose-dependently increased accumulation of lipid droplets in adipocytes. Quantitative RT-PCR analyses indicated that nobiletin increased the expression of genes critical for acquisition of

Nobiletin alleviates methotrexate-induced hepatorenal toxicity in rats
Biotechnic & HistochemistryWe investigated the possible ameliorative effects of nobiletin (NBL) against methotrexate (MTX)-induced hepatorenal toxicity in rats. Twenty-eight Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups, namely: Control; MTX (administered 20 mg/kg MTX); MTX+NBL (administered 20 mg/kg MTX and 10 mg/kg NBL per day); and NBL (administered 10 mg/kg/day ...

Food Hydrocolloids, 2019
Abstract Due to the high crystallization, nobiletin was encapsulated by Ca2+-induced whey protein concentrate (WPC)-stabilized emulgels. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) was used to regulate the interfacial properties of emulsions and viscoelasticity of emulgels.
