Nociceptive Laser-Evoked Brain Potentials Do Not Reflect Nociceptive-Specific Neural Activity

open access: yes, 2009
Brief radiant laser pulses can be used to activate cutaneous Adelta and C nociceptors selectively and elicit a number of transient brain responses [laser-evoked potentials (LEPs)] in the ongoing EEG.

Research progress on the depth of anesthesia monitoring based on the electroencephalogram

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 32-43, Spring 2025.
Electroencephalogram (EEG) can noninvasive, continuous, and real‐time monitor the state of brain electrical activity, and the monitoring of EEG can reflect changes in the depth of anesthesia (DOA). The development of artificial intelligence can enable anesthesiologists to extract, analyze, and quantify DOA from complex EEG data.

Efficacy and safety of laparoscopic nerve decompression for neuropathic sciatic pain due to endometriosis: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Endometriosis is associated with neuropathic pain in approximately 40% of cases. Involvement of the sciatic nerve or sacral plexus represents one of the most frequently reported neuropathic pain presentations in endometriosis, for which no specific management guidelines currently exist.

The Effects of Acute Stress on Responses to Nociceptive and Non-nociceptive Stimuli

open access: yes, 2019
Stress-induced analgesia is characterized by a reduction in response to painful stimuli. However, a sufficiently stressful stimulus may exhibit a pro-nociceptive effect in addition to its anti-nociceptive effect.

The nociceptive response during adult cardiac surgery measured by the qNOX index: A feasibility study

open access: yes
Background. Monitoring nociception during general anaesthesia remains a substantial challenge. The Conox monitor uses two EEG indices, the qCon and the qNox.

Assessment of the wind-up phenomenon in the equine nociceptive trigeminal system.

open access: yes, 2013
Repeated sub-threshold nociceptive electrical stimulation resulting in temporal summation of the limb nociceptive withdrawal reflex is a well-established non-invasive model to investigate the wind-up phenomenon in horses.

Effectiveness of immersive virtual reality‐based interventions for alleviating peri‐ and post‐procedural pain and anxiety in gynecologic settings: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Non‐pharmacological and complementary therapeutic, notably immersive virtual reality‐based interventions (IVR), could alleviate pain and anxiety associated with gynecologic procedures. Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of IVR in reducing peri‐ and post‐procedural pain and anxiety in gynecologic procedures.

Phenolic composition and multi‐target bioactivities of Globularia alypum extracts across seasons

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigates the influence of seasonal variation on the phytochemical profile and biofunctional activities of ethanolic leaf extracts from Globularia alypum. Leaves collected across four seasons were extracted with a hydroethanolic solvent (80:20, v/v) and analyzed by LC‐ESI‐MS/MS.
