Interactions and Thresholds of Limonin and Nomilin in Bitterness Perception in Orange Juice and Other Matrices

Journal of Sensory Studies, 2013
AbstractLimonin and nomilin are two bitter compounds present in citrus and are thought to cause off‐flavor in Huanglongbing (HLB)‐infected fruit/juice. This study determined the best estimate thresholds of limonin, nomilin and their combination in matrices composed of sugars and acids at levels found in orange juice, and in orange juice, using the ...

Simultaneous Purification of Limonin, Nomilin and Isoobacunoic Acid from Pomelo Fruit ( Citrus grandis ) Segment Membrane

Journal of Food Science, 2014
Abstract A method was established for purification of limonin, nomilin, and isoobacunoic acid simultaneously from segment membranes of pomelo ( Citrus Grandis ). This method includes 3 steps, removing most impurities by macroporous resin HZ‐816, isolating limonin by High ...

Inhibitory effects of nomilin on the cytochrome P450 3A4

Drug interaction caused by inhibition of the cytochrome P450 especially CYP3A4, may result in clinically important adverse reactions due to a change in metabolism of the drugs. Nomilin, one of the limonoid compounds found abundantly in citrus species, was examined for its inhibition against recombinant human CYP3A4 activity.
