A Systematic Study of Staphylococcus aureus Biofilm Formation on Thiol‐Ene Polymers: Toward the Development of Microfluidic Bacterial Biofilm Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work presents a systematic characterization of an emerging polymer platform, off‐stoichiometry thiol‐ene, in terms of its ability to support the formation, growth, and metabolic activity of Staphylococcus aureus biofilms. The findings indicate that thiol‐enes promote S.

Effect of intramammary infection with non-aureus staphylococci in early lactation in dairy heifers on quarter somatic cell count and quarter milk yield during the first 4 months of lactation.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2019
A longitudinal study was conducted to assess to what extent intramammary infection (IMI) with non-aureus staphylococci (NAS) within the first 4 d after calving in dairy heifers affects quarter milk yield (qMY) and quarter milk somatic cell count (qSCC ...

ESCRT III Regulates Lysosomal Perinuclear Clustering by Inhibiting Kinesin 1 Leading to Agnps Cytotoxicity in Human Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
AgNPs cause significant damage upon entering the lysosomes of human fibroblasts, resulting in lysosomal transport disorders and the occurrence of perinuclear clustering (LPC) of lysosomes by promoting apoptosis that is accompanied by a reduction in the expression levels of ESCRT III and Kinesin 1 proteins.

Staphylococcus hominis cellulitis and bacteremia associated with surgical clips

open access: yesIDCases, 2022
Streptococcus spp. and Staphylococcus aureus are the most common pathogens causing skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI). Guideline-recommended empiric antibiotics targeting these organisms would also treat coagulase negative Staphylococci, which are ...

Characterization, distribution, antimicrobial resistance and resistance risk factors in staphylococci isolated from cats from 2001 to 2014

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2018
Relatively few studies have been published describing the patterns of staphylococcal isolation and antimicrobial resistance over time in cats. The objective of this retrospective study was to determine the frequency, location, characteristics and ...

Durable Bio‐Based Nanocomposite Coating on Urinary Catheters Prevents Early‐Stage CAUTI‐Associated Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A stable bio‐based nanocomposite coating for urinary catheters is developed using a simple, environmentally‐friendly sonochemical process. The coating, integrating antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and antioxidant properties, effectively tackled multiple early‐stage pathogenic factors associated with catheter‐associated urinary tract infections.
