Non-esterified fatty acids in human serum and erythrocytes

open access: yes
Two methods for the estimation of non-esterified fatty acids in plasma were evaluated. An attempt was made to obtain a reliable micro-technique to estimate these acids in blood fractions. The titrimetric method of Trout et al.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.

Biobased Polyurethane Films Based on Andiroba (Carapa guianensis) and Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa) Oil Polyols

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Polyurethane films were prepared from andiroba (Carapa guianensis) and buriti (Mauritia flexuosa) oil‐derived polyols, emphasizing their potential as bio‐based materials. UV–Vis analysis indicates the retention of carotenoid‐related chromophoric features within the polymer matrix.

Structural and dynamical studies on human epidermal-type fatty acid binding protein using high-resolution NMR spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2003
Human epidermal-type fatty acid binding protein (E-FABP) belongs to a family of intracellular non-enzymatic 14-15 kDa lipid binding proteins (LBP) that specifically bind and facilitate the transport of fatty acids, bile acids or retinoids.

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

Selenomethionine Regulates the Arachidonic Acid Metabolism‐Ferroptosis‐Inflammation Axis to Ameliorate Colitis

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Selenomethionine can ameliorate arachidonic acid‐induced colonic injury through synergistic mechanisms, including alleviating inflammatory responses, improving barrier integrity, enhancing antioxidant capacity by upregulating selenoprotein expression, selectively regulating AA metabolism to reduce pro‐inflammatory oxylipins and promote the production ...

Biobehavioural and cerebral hemodynamic effects of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in healthy individuals

open access: yes
The omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) are a unique class of fatty acids that cannot be manufactured by the body, and must be acquired via dietary sources.
