Esterified Oxylipins: Do They Matter?
Oxylipins are oxygenated metabolites of fatty acids that share several similar biochemical characteristics and functions to fatty acids including transport and trafficking.

Elevated maternal non-esterified fatty acid concentrations during late gestation are associated with altered skeletal muscle development and mitochondrial dynamics related-markers in calves [PDF]
Background Late gestation represents an important developmental window for fetal skeletal muscle formation, which is associated with postnatal body growth, metabolic health and mobility in offspring.

Individual non-esterified fatty acids and incident atrial fibrillation late in life. [PDF]
ObjectiveObesity and dysmetabolism are major risk factors for atrial fibrillation (AF). Expansion of fat depots is associated with increased circulating total non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs), elevated levels of which are associated with incident AF ...

Associations of Early Pregnancy Metabolite Profiles with Gestational Blood Pressure Development
Blood pressure development plays a major role in both the etiology and prediction of gestational hypertensive disorders. Metabolomics might serve as a tool to identify underlying metabolic mechanisms in the etiology of hypertension in pregnancy and lead ...

Regulation of fibrinolysis by non-esterified fatty acids [PDF]
The ability of oleic acid to modulate fibrinolysis was measured by following the urokinase-mediated and plasminogen-dependent cleavage of 125I-labelled fibrin clots. Oleic acid levels within the physiological range exerted a concentration-dependent inhibition of urokinase-mediated fibrinolytic activity.

The Bovine Hepatic Cell Line BFH12 as a Possible Model for Hepatosteatosis in Dairy Cows
Hepatosteatosis is a common metabolic disorder of dairy cows, especially during early lactation. Currently, there are a few models of bovine hepatic steatosis available, including primary hepatocytes, liver slices, and animal models.

Carbohydrat-fat metabolism disorder in cows and calves [PDF]
Inconsistencies in feeding level of dairy cattle to their feed needs leads to various metabolic diseases, including ketosis. The purpose of our work is to study changes in the metabolism of both sexually mature representatives of dairy cattle and young ...

Cellular Uptake, Metabolism and Sensing of Long-Chain Fatty Acids
Fatty acids (FAs) are critical nutrients that regulate an organism’s health and development in mammal. Long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs) can be divided into saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, depending on whether the carbon chain contains at least 1 ...

Release of individual fatty acids from human adipose tissue in vivo after an overnight fast
The objective of this study was to investigate the mobilization of individual fatty acids from human subcutaneous adipose tissue in vivo. Concentrations of individual non-esterified fatty acids were measured in arterialized plasma and in the venous ...

Dietary Implications of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids during Pregnancy and in Neonates
Certain limitations exist for animals to modify fatty acid changes. Besides the role of arachidonic acid (AA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and other 20-carbon long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs) for the synthesis of inflammatory mediators as ...
