NON – IgE – MEDIATED GASTROINTESTINAL FOOD ALLERGY IN CHILDREN

Preventive Paediatrics
Nutrition allergy is unfavorable immune response to food proteins. Non-IgE-mediated gastrointestinal food allergy includes spectrum of disorders which are more uncommon that IgE- mediated food allergies. Their diagnosis is mainly done by clinical features cause the absence of specific biomarkers.

IgE- and Non-IgE-Mediated Food Allergy

2011
Food allergy is generally defined as an immune-mediated adverse response to food. In contrast, nonimmune adverse reactions to foods include intolerance, such as lactose intolerance, and pharmacologic responses, including tachycardia from caffeine or flushing and pruritus from scombroid fish poisoning.

Non-IgE-mediated food allergies

2015
Non-imunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated conditions include combined IgE and cell-mediated conditions such as atopic dermatitis and eosinophilic oesophagitis, and pure T-cell-mediated conditions such as food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome, allergic proctocolitis and enteropathy syndromes. Diagnosing mixed or non-IgE-mediated allergy is challenging. A

An update on the diagnosis and management of non‐IgE‐mediated food allergies in children

Pediatric Allergy and Immunology
Abstract The spectrum of non‐IgE mediated conditions includes well‐defined conditions like Food Protein‐Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES), Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE), Food Protein‐Induced Enteropathy, and Food Protein‐Induced Allergic Proctocolitis, but also the more controversial food protein‐induced ...

Non-IgE antibody mediated mechanisms in food allergy.

Annals of allergy, 1987
Food sensitivity or intolerance is not necessarily based on the Type I allergic reaction. Non-IgE antibody reactions, complement-dependent reactions, enzyme deficiencies such as lactase and non-immunologic histamine release (such as with some sea foods) have been described.

Non-IgE mediated food allergy

2017
Non-IgE-mediated food allergies (FA) are highly prevalent within food allergic patients, notably in the first years of life. The most prevalent non-IgE FA are mainly induced by cow's milk and soya, but many other foods can be involved. Non-IgE FA encompass a wide range of immune-related disorders that differ in prevalence, clinical manifestation, and ...

[IgE- and non-IgE-mediated food allergies - an overview].

Deutsche medizinische Wochenschrift (1946)
Food allergies are divided into 2 main categories: IgE-mediated and non-IgE-mediated food allergies. Both forms can have significant health effects but differ in mechanism, symptoms, and management. The manifestation of the 2 forms differs between children and adults.

Non-IgE Mediated Food Allergy – Update of Recent Progress in Mucosal Immunity

Inflammation & Allergy-Drug Targets, 2012
As opposed to IgE mediated food allergy (IFA) which can cause fatal outcomes, non-IgE mediated FA (NFA) was initially thought to be a benign condition mediated by cellular immune responses, primarily affecting the GI mucosa. NFA children were thought to recover well upon avoidance of offending food.
