On feedback stabilization of nonlinear discrete-time state-delayed systems

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we consider the problem of feedback stabilization of discrete-time systems with delays. The systems under consideration are nonlinear and nonaffine.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

An analytical adaptive optimal control approach without solving HJB equation for nonlinear systems with input constraints

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications
This paper presents an analytical method to solve the optimal control problem for affine nonlinear systems with unknown drift dynamics. A new non‐quadratic cost function over an infinite horizon is presented that considers input constraints and includes ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

An adaptive approximation‐free control for leader‐follower tracking of multi‐agent systems with unknown nonlinearity and disturbance

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications
Due to variable and complex work environments, nonlinearities, uncertainty and disturbances are inevitable in multi‐agent systems. Approximation‐free control can address these issues without involving approximators, such as fuzzy logic systems and neural

Nonlinear adaptive control using non-parametric Gaussian Process prior models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Nonparametric Gaussian Process prior models, taken from Bayesian statistics methodology are used to implement a nonlinear adaptive control law. The expected value of a quadratic cost function is minimised, without ignoring the variance of the model ...

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Risk‐averse perimeter control for alleviating the congestion of an urban traffic network system with uncertainties

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems
The perimeter control method is an effective way to alleviate traffic congestion that is based on Macroscopic Fundamental Diagrams (MFDs). However, the strategy may lead to congestion when it ignores the uncertainty of MFDs. To address this problem, this
