Proteolytic Processing of Rubella Virus Nonstructural Proteins [PDF]

open access: yesVirology, 1998
The genomic RNA of rubella virus contains two long open reading frames (ORF), a 5'-proximal ORF that codes for the nonstructural proteins and a 3'-proximal ORF that encodes the structural proteins. The cDNA encoding the nonstructural protein ORF of the wild-type M33 strain of rubella virus has been obtained and sequenced.

Role of Viral Nonstructural Proteins in Rotavirus Replication

open access: yesFuture Virology, 2009
Studies on the molecular biology of rotavirus, the major etiologic agent of gastroenteritis in infants and young children worldwide, have so far led to a large but not exhaustive knowledge of the mechanisms by which rotavirus replicates in the host cell.

Mapping interactions of Chikungunya virus nonstructural proteins

open access: yesVirus Research, 2012
The four nonstructural proteins (nsPs1-4) of Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) play important roles involving enzymatic activities and specific interactions with both viral and host components, during different stages of viral pathogenesis. Elucidation of the presence and/or absence of interactions among nsPs in a systematic manner is thus of scientific ...

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonuclear protein K interacts with Sindbis virus nonstructural proteins and viral subgenomic mRNA [PDF]

open access: yesVirology, 2007
Alphaviruses are a group of arthropod-borne human and animal pathogens that can cause epidemics of significant public health and economic consequence. Alphavirus RNA synthesis requires four virally encoded nonstructural proteins and probably a number of ...

Immunomodulatory Nonstructural Proteins of Influenza A Viruses

Trends in Microbiology, 2018
Influenza epidemics and pandemics still represent a severe public health threat and cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. As intracellular parasites, influenza viruses are strongly dependent on the host cell machinery. To ensure efficient production of progeny viruses, viral proteins extensively interfere with cellular signalling ...

DNA binding of a nonstructural reovirus protein

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1981
The specific early inhibition of DNA synthesis in reovirus-infected cells suggests that the cell nucleus is a target for virus-induced damage. We have now examined the affinity of reovirus proteins for DNA, postulating that such affinity could provide a mechanism for the inhibition.
