Oxidative stress and normal pregnancy

Clinical Endocrinology, 2002
Summaryobjective To determine whether, in normal pregnancies, there is evidence of oxidative stress that is related to the lipid changes observed in pregnancy.design Longitudinal study of healthy women having a normal pregnancy. Samples were obtained towards the end of each trimester and after 8 weeks postpartum.patients Seventeen healthy women during ...

Primary Normal Stress Coefficient Predictions

Journal of Rheology, 1986
Summary: This paper deals with the problem of evaluating material elasticity through measurements of a material function such as the non-Newtonian viscosity. A brief summary is provided between relations involving several material functions. In particular, two methods for predicting the primary normal stress coefficient from the steady shear viscosity ...

Transient Normal Stress Measurement

Transactions of the Society of Rheology, 1975
For the critical evaluation of the rheological equations of state for polymer solutions, steady-state and dynamic experiments including transient normal and shear stress measurements are required. It has been found that the normal force measurement system in the Weissenberg Rheogoniometer (WRG) is not suitable for the transient normal stress ...

Normal stress and coping

Alternative Lifestyles, 1981
Many Black families have chosen alternative lifestyles to accommodate the realities in their lives. The diversity in their lifestyles has often been viewed as “deviance” or “pathological” by White-oriented social science professionals. Black families, however, encounter the pressures any American family may face, and in addition they live under the ...

Stress in Schizophrenics and Normals

British Journal of Psychiatry, 1975
SummaryThis paper presents findings related to the measure of stress in 641 schizophrenics (125 acutes and 516 chronics) and 95 comparable normals. Stress was defined as an imbalance between environmental demands and the respondent's ability to meet that demand successfully, and was measured in terms of level of stress experienced in relation to ...

Valgus Stress Radiography in Normal Ankles

Foot & Ankle International, 1997
Deltoid ligament injury is thought to be rare. Signs of complete rupture of the deltoid ligament may be subtle or interpreted as another injury condition and thus are often missed acutely. No standardized method has been created to evaluate medial ligament insufficiency in acute or chronic laxity. To establish a diagnostic test for suspected isolated

Normal stress measurements

Rheologica Acta, 1969
A review of the methods for obtaining the normal stress differences in simple shear flow from force measurements on the walls of apparatus in which curvilinear shear flows are generated is given. Indirect methods, for example the flow birefringence method, are considered.

Normal stresses in colloidal dispersions

Journal of Rheology, 1995
Normal stresses in colloidal dispersions at low shear rates are determined theoretically for both dilute and concentrated suspensions of Brownian hard spheres. An evolution equation for the pair‐distribution function is developed and the perturbation to the microstructure in a general linear flow is shown to be regular to O(Pe2), where Pe=γa2/D0. Here,

An effect of normal stresses

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1978
A curvilinear equilibrium shape of a thin stream of elastoviscous liquid is discussed. It is shown that one can estimate the elastic stresses, and consequently the elastic characteristics of the liquid, from the shape of the stream. The role of elastic forces in the stability of liquid filaments is analyzed qualitatively.

Normalized SPH with stress points

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2000
Summary: We extend smoothed particle hydrodynamics to a normalized, staggered particle formulation with boundary conditions. A companion set of interpolation points is introduced that carry the stress, velocity gradient, and other derived field variables.
