Induction of Necrosis and DNA Fragmentation during Hypothermic Preservation of Hepatocytes in UW, HTK, and Celsior Solutions

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2003
Donor cells can be preserved in University of Wisconsin (UW), histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate (HTK), or Celsior solution. However, differences in efficacy and mode of action in preventing hypothermia-induced cell injury have not been unequivocally ...

Acute kidney injury in a dog after ingestion of homemade modelling dough containing cream of tartar (potassium bitartrate)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Summary A 16‐month‐old, male, neutered cocker spaniel developed gastrointestinal signs following ingestion of a homemade modelling dough containing cream of tartar. Blood biochemistry (29 hours post‐ingestion) showed elevated creatinine, urea and symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA).

A reproducible extended ex-vivo normothermic machine liver perfusion protocol utilising improved nutrition and targeted vascular flows

open access: yesCommunications Medicine
Background Normothermic machine perfusion of donor livers has become standard practice in the field of transplantation, allowing the assessment of organs and safe extension of preservation times.

Acellular Perfusate is an Adequate Alternative to Packed Red Blood Cells During Normothermic Human Kidney Perfusion

open access: yesTransplantation Direct
Background. Brief normothermic machine perfusion is increasingly used to assess and recondition grafts before transplant. During normothermic machine perfusion, metabolic activity is typically maintained using red blood cell (RBC)–based solutions ...

Risk Factors for Myocardial Injury During Cardio‐Pulmonary Bypass‐Assisted Heart Surgery: A Retrospective Single‐Center Study

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 10, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Myocardial injury is a significant contributor to 30‐day mortality after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. We aimed to investigate the association between mean arterial pressure, norepinephrine use during the aorta cross‐clamp period, and aorta cross‐clamp duration with myocardial injury during cardiopulmonary bypass ...

Hepatic steatosis and normothermic perfusion-preliminary experiments in a porcine model.

open access: yes, 2011
BACKGROUND: Steatotic livers are increasingly common in the donor population. Cold storage of steatotic livers exacerbates ischemia-reperfuson injury and risks primary nonfunction and recipient death. Normothermic preservation avoids prolonged cooling of

Superior extension of intraoperative brain damage in case of normothermic systemic perfusion during coronary artery bypass operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Objective: Despite the controversies on the potential detrimental effects of normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass on neurologic outcome, to date no correlation between the severity of intraoperative brain lesions and the cardiopulmonary bypass temperature

Early outcomes of experience warm surgery in children undergoing complete repair of tetralogy of Fallot in developing countries

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics
Objectives While significant evidence supports the benefits of normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass (NCPB) over hypothermic techniques, many institutions in developing countries, including ours, continue to employ hypothermic methods.
