Endothelial Wnt/β-catenin signaling inhibits glioma angiogenesis and normalizes tumor blood vessels by inducing PDGF-B expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Endothelial Wnt/β-catenin signaling is necessary for angiogenesis of the central nervous system and blood–brain barrier (BBB) differentiation, but its relevance for glioma vascularization is unknown. In this study, we show that doxycycline-dependent Wnt1

Microenvironment Modulation‐Based Nanomaterial‐Loaded Hydrogel Dressings for Diabetic Foot Ulcers: Research Progress and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
xx xx. ABSTRACT Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a chronic complication of diabetes, primarily caused by hyperglycemia, peripheral vascular disease, and neuropathy. Characterized by persistent hyperglycemia, impaired perfusion, inflammation, and infection, DFUs pose significant challenges to healing and are associated with high morbidity and amputation ...

Lattice Structures for Bone Replacement: The Intersection of Bone Biomechanics, Lattice Design, and Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review outlines how understanding bone's biology, hierarchical architecture, and mechanical anisotropy informs the design of lattice structures that replicate bone morphology and mechanical behavior. Additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of orthopedic implants that incorporate such structures using a range of engineering materials ...

Non-canonical Notch signaling drives activation and differentiation of peripheral CD4+ T cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Cleavage of the Notch receptor via a γ-secretase, results in the release of the active intra-cellular domain of Notch that migrates to the nucleus and interacts with RBP-JΚ, resulting in the activation of downstream target genes.

Prognostic values of Notch receptors in breast cancer

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2015
Notch receptors are frequently deregulated in several human malignancies including human breast cancer. Activation of Notch has been reported to cause mammary carcinomas in mice. However, the prognostic value of individual Notch receptors in breast cancer (BC) patients remains elusive. In the current study, we investigated the prognostic value of Notch

Maintenance of T Cell Specification and Differentiation Requires Recurrent Notch Receptor–Ligand Interactions

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2004
Notch signaling has been shown to play a pivotal role in inducing T lineage commitment. However, T cell progenitors are known to retain other lineage potential long after the first point at which Notch signaling is required. Thus, additional requirements

High‐Transmission Mid‐Infrared Bandpass Filters using Hybrid Metal‐Dielectric Metasurfaces for CO2 Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This article presents a hybrid metal‐dielectric metasurface in transmission mode for mid‐infrared (MIR) spectroscopy. Composed of germanium on aluminium cylinders atop a calcium fluoride substrate, the metasurface achieves 80% transmission efficiency at λ = 2.6 µm with a narrow full‐width‐half‐maximum of 0.4 µm.
