Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Programmable 3D Photovoltaics via Mechanically Origami‐Coded Interlocked 3D Kirigami and Nano‐Root Anchored AgNWs–In–Ga Multiphasic Alloy Conductor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mechanically origami‐coded 3D kirigami photovoltaics convert a single extension–release cycle into deterministic self‐folding, reconfiguring planar solar cells into programmable 3D modules. Distinct coding strategies enable either ultrahigh stretchability (500% system strain) or ultrahigh initial effective areal coverage (225%).

Leaf‐Inspired Eutectic Skin With Extreme Fatigue Resistance and Robust Wet Adhesion for Amphibious Epidermal Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by Acorus calamus leaves, a heterogeneous eutectic skin integrates an aligned fibrous network within a hydrophobic eutectogel matrix. This hierarchical architecture triggers strain‐induced crystallization to achieve exceptional mechanical toughness and durable wet adhesion.

Controlling Film Formation in Inkjet‐printed MAPbBr3 Through Graphene Incorporation for Enhanced Photodetection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights the impact of incorporating graphene nanoflakes into precursor inks of MAPbBr3 for inkjet‐printed optoelectronic device applications. A substantial modification of the crystallization dynamics is reported despite miniscule concentrations.

Non-canonical Notch signaling drives activation and differentiation of peripheral CD4+ T cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Cleavage of the Notch receptor via a γ-secretase, results in the release of the active intra-cellular domain of Notch that migrates to the nucleus and interacts with RBP-JΚ, resulting in the activation of downstream target genes.

ERK‐Mediated Phosphorylation of YAP Defines a Noncanonical FGF Signaling Mechanism in Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
With a powerful combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models, the authors highlight a novel FGF‐ERK signaling regulation of YAP at the S128 site in neural crest‐derived stem cells. This study opens exciting new directions in stem cell biology and craniofacial biology, paving the way for potential innovations in the treatment of craniofacial ...

The Notch Signaling Pathway: Mechanistic Insights in Health and Disease

open access: yesEngineering
The Notch signaling pathway is evolutionarily conserved across metazoan species and plays key roles in many physiological processes. The Notch receptor is activated by two families of canonical ligands (Delta-like and Serrate/Jagged) where both ligands ...

A novel reporter allele for monitoring Dll4 expression within the embryonic and adult mouse

open access: yesBiology Open, 2018
Canonical Notch signaling requires the presence of a membrane bound ligand and a corresponding transmembrane Notch receptor. Receptor engagement induces multiple proteolytic cleavage events culminating in the nuclear accumulation of the Notch ...
