Cultivar differences in the operation of the photosystem II of barley leaves [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2022
Differences between nine spring barley cultivars on structural and functional parameters of PSII operation are shown. Variability of the parameters used changed from 2.2…2.5 (oxidized quinones pool and maximum photochemical efficiency) to 24.6 ...

Novichoks: The Dangerous Fourth Generation of Chemical Weapons [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
“Novichoks” is the name given to the controversial chemical weapons supposedly developed in the former Soviet Union between the 1970s and the 1990s. Designed to be undetectable and untreatable, these chemicals became the most toxic of the nerve agents, being very attractive for both terrorist and chemical warfare purposes.

Characterization of the Interaction of Nerve Agent Mimics with Selected Synthetic Receptors

open access: yesOrganic Materials, 2022
Qualitative NMR spectroscopic and quantitative calorimetric binding studies were performed to characterize the interaction of nontoxic mimics of the V-type nerve agent VX (O-ethyl S-[2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl] methylphosphonothioate) and the Novichok ...

Phosphonylated tyrosine and lysine residues as biomarkers of local exposure of human hair to the organophosphorus nerve agents sarin and VX

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 15, Issue 7, Page 730-744, July 2023., 2023
This is the first report addressing analysis of biomarker adducts obtained from human hair exposed to the nerve agents sarin and VX in vitro. Phosphonylated single amino acids were obtained after pronase‐catalyzed proteolysis of hair proteins. Adducted Lys and especially Tyr residues were the most prominent adducts detected by μLC‐ESI MS/HR MS.

Treatment of cholinergic‐induced status epilepticus with polytherapy targeting GABA and glutamate receptors

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 8, Issue S1, Page S117-S140, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Despite new antiseizure medications, the development of cholinergic‐induced refractory status epilepticus (RSE) continues to be a therapeutic challenge as pharmacoresistance to benzodiazepines and other antiseizure medications quickly develops. Studies conducted by Epilepsia.

Effective degradation of Novichok nerve agents by the zirconium metal−organic framework MOF-808

open access: yes, 2022
Novichoks are a novel class of nerve agents (also referred to as the A-series) that were employed in several poisonings over the last few years. This calls for the development of novel countermeasures that can be applied in protective concepts (e.g ...

The prospect of using the cyanobacterium Nostoc muscorum to improve vital activity of barley seedlings by various methods of seed treatment [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2021
The influence of the cyanobacterium Nostoc muscorum on vital activity of barley seedlings of the species Novichok was researched. In the experiments different ways of cyanobacterial treatment were used: introducing microorganisms in the growth medium and
