Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Redox regulation meets metabolism: targeting PRDX2 to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PRDX2 acts as a central redox hub linking metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In normal hepatocytes, PRDX2 maintains redox balance and metabolic homeostasis under oxidative stress. In contrast, during malignant transformation, PRDX2 promotes oncogenic signaling, stemness, and tumor initiation ...

A nuclear export signal within the structural Gag protein is required for prototype foamy virus replication

open access: yesRetrovirology, 2011
Background The Gag polyproteins play distinct roles during the replication cycle of retroviruses, hijacking many cellular machineries to fulfill them.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

ER protein CLCC1 promotes nuclear envelope fusion in herpesviral and host processes

open access: yesNature Communications
Herpesvirales are an ancient viral order that causes lifelong infections in species from mollusks to humans. They export their capsids from the nucleus to the cytoplasm by a noncanonical nuclear egress route that involves capsid budding at the inner ...

Cytomegaloviral proteins that associate with the nuclear lamina: components of a postulated nuclear egress complex

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2009
The nuclear egress of cytomegaloviral capsids traversing the nuclear envelope is dependent on a locally restricted destabilization of the rigid nuclear lamina. It has been suggested that the multi-component nuclear egress complex (NEC) that is formed is comprised of both viral and cellular proteins which act to recruit lamin-phosphorylating protein ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

STAT3 Nuclear Egress Requires Exportin 7 via Engaging Lysine Acetylation [PDF]

open access: yesMOJ Cell Science & Report, 2014
Nucleocytoplasmic shuttling of signaling molecules is crucial for regulating their activity. Regulation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is critical for normal physiology while STAT3 dysregulation underlies many diseases such as cancer. However, the mechanism(s) underlying STAT3 nuclear egress remains unclear. Here, we show

Nestinþ cells direct inflammatory cell migration in atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Atherosclerosis is a leading death cause. Endothelial and smooth muscle cells participate in atherogenesis, but it is unclear whether other mesenchymal cells contribute to this process. Bone marrow (BM) nestinþ cells cooperate with endothelial cells in
