Ethical issues of human cloning

open access: yesJournal of Medical Sciences, 2020
Cloning can help us in the research field and medical sciences. But due to ethical and moral values, this idea is not supported. Moreover, it is against ethical values as well.

Optimal Control for Electron Shuttling [PDF]

open access: yesPhys Rev B 87 235324, 2013, 2012
In this paper we apply an optimal control technique to derive control fields that transfer an electron between ends of a chain of donors or quantum dots. We formulate the transfer as an optimal steering problem, and then derive the dynamics of the optimal control. A numerical algorithm is developed to effectively generate control pulses.

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Maximising Dynamic Nuclear Polarisation via Selective Hyperfine Tuning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Dynamic nuclear polarisation (DNP) refers to a class of techniques used to increase the signal in nuclear magnetic resonance measurements by transferring spin polarisation from ensembles of highly polarised electrons to target nuclear analytes. These techniques, however, require the application of strong magnetic fields to maximise electron spin ...

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Isotopically engineered silicon/silicon-germanium nanostructures as basic elements for a nuclear spin quantum computer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The idea of quantum computation is the most promising recent developments in the high-tech domain, while experimental realization of a quantum computer poses a formidable challenge. Among the proposed models especially attractive are semiconductor based nuclear spin quantum computer's (S-NSQC), where nuclear spins are used as quantum bistable elements,

Scalar and vector form factors of the in-medium nucleon [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett. B575 (2003) 4-10, 2003
Using the quark-meson coupling model, we calculate the form factors at sigma- and omega-nucleon strong-interaction vertices in nuclear matter. The Peierls-Yoccoz projection technique is used to take account of center of mass and recoil corrections. We also apply the Lorentz contraction to the internal quark wave function.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (
