Are there variations in hydrogen bonding abilities of Watson Crick region and other donor-acceptor sites of nucleobases? An ab initio method of studying proton and metal ion affinities of nucleobases

open access: yes, 2006
1804-1812The ability to form intermolecular hydrogen bonds in DNA depends on the donor-acceptor atomic sites present in nucleobases where the formation of a stable Watson Crick type hydrogen bonds (WC) other than non Watson Crick hydrogen bonds (NWC ...

Toward Ideal Proximity‐Driven Reactions in Chemical Biology

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 19, 14 October 2026.
Building on established principles of molecular templation, this perspective explores how molecular recognition can control chemical reactivity in space and time and outlines the design principles of an ideal proximity‐driven reaction for chemical biology.

Control of Gemcitabine Activity With Blue and Red Light

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 38, 13 October 2026.
Treating cancer with chemotherapy is generally associated with many side effects, which can be addressed by selectively releasing the desired drugs with visible light. Sixteen new blue light‐activatable cytostatics were introduced, with the gemcitabine derivative exhibiting ideal properties.
