Expanding COVID-19 Vaccine Availability: Role for Combined Orthogonal Serology Testing (COST)

open access: yesVaccines, 2021
Background: The persisting Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and limited vaccine supply has led to a shift in global health priorities to expand vaccine coverage.

Human Coronavirus 229E Uses ORF4/4a to Antagonize the Host Restriction Factor SERINC5. [PDF]

open access: yesMedComm (2020)
The seasonal human coronaviruses 229E and OC43 are common causes of mild respiratory infections but can cause severe disease in vulnerable individuals. Serine incorporator 5 (SERINC5) efficiently inhibits OC43, while hCoV‐229E uses its ORF4/4a accessory proteins to efficiently counteract this restriction by promoting relocalization of SERINC5 to ...

Safety and Immunogenicity of the Convacell® Recombinant N Protein COVID-19 Vaccine

open access: yesVaccines
We have developed Convacell®—a COVID-19 vaccine based on the recombinant nucleocapsid (N) protein of SARS-CoV-2. This paper details Convacell’s® combined phase I/II and IIb randomized, double-blind, interventional clinical trials.

Quantitative measurement of IgG to SARS‐CoV‐2 antigens using monoclonal antibody‐based enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays

open access: yesClinical & Translational Immunology, 2022
Objective Standardised quantitative analysis of the humoral immune response to SARS‐CoV‐2 antigens may be useful for estimating the extent and duration of immunity. The aim was to develop enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) for the quantification

Coronavirus Nucleocapsid Protein [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The coronavirus nucleocapsid protein (N) is involved in encapsidation and packaging of viral RNA. In this study we investigated the ability of the bovine coronavirus (BCV) N protein to interact with RNA. Histidine-tagged BCV N (his-N) protein was expressed in bacteria.

The BBIBP-CorV inactivated COVID-19 vaccine induces robust and persistent humoral responses to SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid, besides spike protein in healthy adults

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Vaccination is one of the best ways to control the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) epidemic. Among the various SARS-CoV-2 vaccines approved for use, the BBIBP-CorV inactivated vaccine has been widely used in 93 countries.

cDNA Cloning of the Nucleocapsid and Nucleocapsid-associated Protein Genes of Mumps Virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1985
cDNA clones of the mumps virus N and P messenger RNAs were isolated from an infected cell cDNA library. The N and P clones selected the two predominant polyadenylated RNAs found in mumps virus-infected cells with mol. wt. of 0.69 X 10(6) and 0.51 X 10(6), respectively. In addition, clones of the P gene hybridized to and selected mRNAs of higher mol. wt.

Stimulation of Potent Humoral and Cellular Immunity via Synthetic Dual-Antigen MVA-Based COVID-19 Vaccine COH04S1 in Cancer Patients Post Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy

open access: yesVaccines, 2023
Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell patients are immunocompromised, remain at high risk following SARS-CoV-2 infection, and are less likely than immunocompetent individuals to respond to vaccination.

AcMNPV PKIP is associated with nucleocapsid of budded virions and involved in nucleocapsid assembly

open access: yesVirus Research, 2019
Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) orf24 (pkip) is a unique Alphabaculovirus gene. A previous study showed that a temperature-sensitive mutant of AcMNPV with a mutation in pkip displayed severe defects in progeny budded virion (BV) production and very late gene transcription, however, the underlying mechanism has not been ...

Serum Level of Anti-Nucleocapsid, but Not Anti-Spike Antibody, Is Associated with Improvement of Long COVID Symptoms

open access: yesVaccines, 2022
Background: Long COVID is a condition characterized by long-term sequelae persisting after the typical convalescence period of COVID-19. Previous reports have suggested the role of an unsatisfactory immune response and impaired viral clearance in the ...
