Theoretical Study on Highly Active Bifunctional Metalloporphyrin Catalysts for the Coupling Reaction of Epoxides with Carbon Dioxide [PDF]
Highly active bifunctional metalloporphyrin catalysts were developed for the coupling reaction of epoxides with CO2 to produce cyclic carbonates. The bifunctional catalysts have both quaternary ammonium halide groups and a metal center.

Radical-Stimulated Nucleophile Release [PDF]
Experimental and computational results have shown that deprotonation was enhanced for precursors containing radical centers (RED-shift). An examination of whether the inverse heterolytic dissociations that release nucleophiles instead of electrophiles could also be stimulated by suitably sited radicals is reported in this paper.

A dual catalytic strategy for carbon-phosphorus cross-coupling via gold and photoredox catalysis. [PDF]
A new method for the P-arylation of aryldiazonium salts with H-phosphonates via dual gold and photoredox catalysis is described. The reaction proceeds smoothly at room temperature in the absence of base and/or additives, and offers an efficient approach ...

Nucleophile sensitivity of Drosophila TRPA1 underlies light-induced feeding deterrence
Solar irradiation including ultraviolet (UV) light causes tissue damage by generating reactive free radicals that can be electrophilic or nucleophilic due to unpaired electrons.

Preparation, Characterization and Reactivity of (3-Methylpentadienyl)iron(1+) Cations [PDF]
The title cations (9 and 12) were prepared by dehydration of (3-methyl-2,4-pentadien-1-ol)Fe(CO)2L+ complexes. The structure of the (CO)2PPh3-ligated 12 was determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Reaction of carbon and heteroatom nucleophiles to (3-

Improved Synthesis of Sulfur-Containing Glycosides by Suppressing Thioacetyl Migration
Complex mixtures were often observed when we attempted to synthesize 4-thio- and 2,4-dithio-glycoside derivatives by double parallel and double serial inversion, thus leading to no or low yields of target products.

The prebiotic evolutionary advantage of transferring genetic information from RNA to DNA. [PDF]
In the early 'RNA world' stage of life, RNA stored genetic information and catalyzed chemical reactions. However, the RNA world eventually gave rise to the DNA-RNA-protein world, and this transition included the 'genetic takeover' of information storage ...

Synthesis of Arecatannin A1 from Dimeric Epicatechin Electrophile
Synthesis of arrecatannin A1 (1) was accomplished from dimeric epicatechin electrophile, which was prepared by Zn(OTf) 2 mediated self-condensation, and monomeric catechin nucleophile.
