Luminescence of N2,3‐etheno‐2‐aminopurine Embedded in Polyvinyl Alcohol Films at Room Temperature

open access: yesLuminescence, Volume 41, Issue 5, May 2026.
The spectral characteristics of N2,3‐etheno‐2‐aminopurine immobilized in poly(vinyl alcohol) films are presented. Direct excitation to the triplet state and the occurrence of room‐temperature phosphorescence were observed. These findings could be useful for developing tools to study biomolecules that are unstable under high‐energy excitation.

Impact of Underlying Liver Disease on the Risk and Prognostic Factors of Breast Cancer Liver Metastases: A Retrospective Multicenter Cohort Study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine factors influencing breast cancer liver metastases (BCLM) and assess the impact of underlying liver diseases (nonalcoholic fatty liver and HBsAg infection) on BCLM development. Methods Patients diagnosed with breast cancer at four affiliated hospitals in China between 2014 and 2024 were included.

Carbohydrate‐Based Drug Discovery: Synthetic Strategies and Clinical Applications

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 3, May 2026.
The picture depicts the molecules discussed in the review. On the left side, the general scaffold of sugars is shown. Next to it are four carbohydrate‐based molecules, including remdesivir, islatravir, empagliflozin, and Globo‐H. Remdesivir and islatravir contain a substituted ribose ring attached to a modified nucleobase.

Rationale for the Use of 8‐Aminoguanine for the Management of Cystitis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urology, Volume 33, Issue S1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Bladder pain and associated lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs) are hallmark features of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) and hemorrhagic cystitis (HC). IC/BPS is characterized by bladder‐based pain and irritative bladder symptoms, with or without gross inflammatory changes (Hunner lesions) in the bladder wall, and the ...

Collagen and microvascular alterations contribute to neuromuscular degeneration and disease progression in chronic intestinal pseudo‐obstruction

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 299, Issue 5, Page 587-603, May 2026.
Abstract Background Chronic intestinal pseudo‐obstruction (CIPO) is a severe gastrointestinal motility disorder that may be idiopathic or associated with systemic disease. In idiopathic cases, the pathophysiological mechanisms remain poorly defined. Although mutations in angiogenic factors have been reported in mitochondrial forms of CIPO, their role ...
