SHMT2 is essential for mammalian preimplantation embryonic development through de novo biosynthesis of nucleotide metabolites

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids
Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is used widely and efficiently to treat infertility. During the ART procedure, one of the main factors affecting the success rate is abnormal development of preimplantation embryos. The establishment and maintenance

Cytosine base editor generates substantial off-target single-nucleotide variants in mouse embryos

open access: yesScience, 2019
Spotting off-targets from gene editing Unintended genomic modifications limit the potential therapeutic use of gene-editing tools. Available methods to find off-targets generally do not work in vivo or detect single-nucleotide changes.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Sensory taste properties of chicken (Hy-Line brown) soup as prepared with five different parts of the chicken

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2020
Taste is one of the main chicken soup characteristic quality factors as it affects palatability as well as consumer acceptability. Metabolomics coupled with sensory analysis method were applied to explore the differences of taste-chemical compositions in

From omics to AI—mapping the pathogenic pathways in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Integrating multi‐omics data with AI‐based modelling (unsupervised and supervised machine learning) identify optimal patient clusters, informing AI‐driven accurate risk stratification. Digital twins simulate individual trajectories in real time, guiding precision medicine by matching patients to targeted therapies.

Thermostable neutral metalloprotease from Geobacillus sp. EA1 does not share thermolysin's preference for substrates with leucine at the P1′ position

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Knowing how proteases recognise preferred substrates facilitates matching proteases to applications. The S1′ pocket of protease EA1 directs cleavage to the N‐terminal side of hydrophobic residues, particularly leucine. The S1′ pocket of thermolysin differs from EA's at only one position (leucine in place of phenylalanine), which decreases cleavage ...

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

Effect of different levels of dietary nucleotide on immunity and total protein plasma parameters of Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone, 1931) female brood stock during maturation and eyestalk ablation [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2016
In this study, we investigated the effects of different levels of dietary nucleotide (0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6%) on immunity parameters and total protein plasma of Litopenaeus vannamei female brood stock in four experimental treatments (three replication per ...

Effective and repeatable chromatographic separation of 5 nucleotides in infant formula milk powder by ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatography–ultraviolet

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2022
: A robust method using HPLC-UV was developed to improve the accuracy and repeatability of a quantitative method to detect 5 nucleotides (cytidine-monophosphate, uridine monophosphate, adenosine monophosphate, guanine monophosphate, and inosine ...

Single cis‐elements in brassinosteroid‐induced upregulated genes are insufficient to recruit both redox states of the BIL1/BZR1 DNA‐binding domain

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.
