Physiological and Metabolic Responses of Leymus chinensis Seedlings to Alkali Stress

open access: yesPlants, 2022
To elucidate the physiological and metabolic mechanism of perennial grass responses to alkali stress, we selected Leymus chinensis (L. chinensis), a salt-tolerant perennial rhizomatous species of the family Poaceae as experimental material.

Impact of Tandem Repeats on the Scaling of Nucleotide Sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Techniques such as detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and its extensions have been widely used to determine the nature of scaling in nucleotide sequences. In this brief communication we show that tandem repeats which are ubiquitous in nucleotide sequences can prevent reliable estimation of possible long-range correlations.

Structural Insights into the Processing of Nucleobase-Modified Nucleotides by DNA Polymerases.

open access: yesAccounts of Chemical Research, 2016
The DNA polymerase-catalyzed incorporation of modified nucleotides is employed in many biological technologies of prime importance, such as next-generation sequencing, nucleic acid-based diagnostics, transcription analysis, and aptamer selection by ...

The First 5′-Phosphorylated 1,2,3-Triazolyl Nucleoside Analogues with Uracil and Quinazoline-2,4-Dione Moieties: A Synthesis and Antiviral Evaluation

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
A series of 5′-phosphorylated (dialkyl phosphates, diaryl phosphates, phosphoramidates, H-phosphonates, phosphates) 1,2,3-triazolyl nucleoside analogues in which the 1,2,3-triazole-4-yl-β-D-ribofuranose fragment is attached via a methylene group or a ...

Extracellular nucleosides and nucleotides as immunomodulators

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, 2017
Some anticancer agents induce immunogenic cell death that is accompanied by the emission of danger signals into the tumor microenvironment, thus attracting and activating innate immune effectors and finally inducing anticancer immunity.

New Strategy to Preserve Phosphate by Ionic Liquid Matrices in Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization: A Case of Adenosine Nucleotides

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Adenosine -5′-triphosphate (ATP) plays a valuable role in metabolic activity to produce adequate energy in a biosystem. A high ATP/AMP ratio has a correlation with diabetes that induces suppression of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).

Nutritional Modulation of the Immune Response Mediated by Nucleotides in Canine Leishmaniosis

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2021
Leishmaniasis is an emerging, uncontrolled, and neglected zoonotic disease. Climate change is contributing to its ongoing global expansion. The dog is the main reservoir; hence the importance of implementing effective treatment, prevention, and control ...

Electronic signature of DNA nucleotides via transverse transport [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters 5, 421 (2005), 2004
We report theoretical studies of charge transport in single-stranded DNA in the direction perpendicular to the backbone axis. We find that, if the electrodes which sandwich the DNA have the appropriate spatial width, each nucleotide carries a unique signature due to the different electronic and chemical structure of the four bases.

Purine Nucleotides in the Regulation of Brown Adipose Tissue Activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2020
Non-shivering thermogenesis in mammalian brown adipose tissue is a powerful mechanism to defend normothermia in cold climates. To minimize the loss of chemical energy, the central functional component, mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1, UCP1, must be ...
