Parameters Estimation in Non-Negative Integer-Valued Time Series: Approach Based on Probability Generating Functions

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
This manuscript deals with a parameter estimation of a non-negative integer-valued (NNIV) time series based on the so-called probability generating function (PGF) method.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Parallelization of Runge–Kutta Methods for Hardware Implementation

open access: yesComputation, 2022
Parallel numerical integration is a valuable tool used in many applications requiring high-performance numerical solvers, which is of great interest nowadays due to the increasing difficulty and complexity in differential problems.

Numerical evaluation of diffraction integrals

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, 2000
This paper describes a simple numerical integration method for diffraction integrals which is based on elementary geometrical considerations of the manner in which different portions of the incident wavefront contribute to the diffracted field. The method is applicable in a wide range of cases as the assumptions regarding the type of integral are ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Numerical implementation of the eXtended Finite Element Method for dynamic crack analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A numerical implementation of the eXtended Finite Element Method (X-FEM) to analyze crack propagation in a structure under dynamic loading is presented in this paper.

Errors of stress numerical integration for cross-sections with straight and curved boundaries

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2017
Internal forces are integrals of stress in a section area. Integrating the stress for an arbitrary cross-section shape and for the nonlinear stress-strain law σ(ε) is tedious and the use of the boundary integral approach can simplify computations ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Weighted Hermite-Hadamard-type inequalities without any symmetry condition on the weight function

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
We establish weighted Hermite-Hadamard-type inequalities for some classes of differentiable functions without assuming any symmetry property on the weight function.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
