Study on induction hardening performance of 34CrNi3MoA steel crankshaft

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2023
The evolution of the temperature field, microstructure field, and residual stress field of a 34CrNi3MoA steel marine diesel engine crankshaft during medium-frequency induction hardening was studied based on an electromagnetic-thermal-transformation ...

Identification of the plant mitochondrial OrfX protein: A mass spectrometry approach

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mitochondrial genome of plants contains an open reading frame, orfx, which encodes a rare protein that has so far escaped mass spectrometric detection. The protein resembles the c‐subunit of bacterial twin‐arginine‐motif‐dependent protein translocases (TatC).

Flow Conditioning in Heat Treatment by Gas and Spray Quenching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gas quenching has been known for centuries as a convenient, affordable method to heat treat ferrous alloys. Heated parts are taken out of the furnace and quenched at ambient pressure, casually using a blower to increase the heat exchange.

Adaptive WENO Schemes for Singular in Space and Time Solutions of Nonlinear Degenerate Reaction-Diffusion Problems

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
The numerical solution of nonlinear degenerate reaction-diffusion problems often meets two kinds of difculties: singularities in space – finite speed of propagation of compact supports’ initial perturbations and possible sharp moving fronts, where the ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Critical cooling rate on carbide precipitation during quenching of austenitic manganese steel [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2010
Critical cooling rate to avoid carbide precipitation during quenching of austenitic manganese steel was investigated by means of optical microscopy, image analyzer and numerical analysis. An efficient heat treatment analysis program including temperature-
