New Nutrient Rich Food Nutrient Density Models That Include Nutrients and MyPlate Food Groups
Background: Dietary guidelines have shifted emphasis from single nutrients to food patterns, food groups, and dietary ingredients. Nutrient profiling models need to do the same. Methods: Dietary intake data for 23,643 persons aged >2 years came from ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Bog bilberry phenolics, antioxidant capacity and nutrient profile
Phenolics and nutrient profiles of bog bilberry (Vaccinium uliginosum L.) collected from high mountain pastures in northeast Anatolia (Turkey) were examined for the first time in this study. The major soluble sugar identified in the berry was fructose, following by glucose, and the main organic acid identified was citric acid, followed by malic acid ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Renal formulas pretreated with medications alters the nutrient profile [PDF]
Pretreating renal formulas with medications to lower the potassium and phosphorus content is common in clinical practice; however, the effect of this treatment on other nutrients is relatively unstudied. We examine whether nutrient composition is affected by pretreating renal formulas with sodium polystyrene sulfonate (SPS) suspension and sevelamer ...
