Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Optimising Galdieria sulphuraria ACUF 427 Biomass for Enhanced Urban Wastewater Treatment: Evaluating Pollutant Removal Efficiency, Algal Growth, and Phycocyanin Production

open access: yesPhycology
Urban wastewater is composed of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, organic matter, heavy metals, pathogens, and micropollutants. If untreated, these contribute to eutrophication and environmental degradation.

Qualitative estimation of SBR biological nutrient removal performance for wastewater treatment

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology, 2012
AbstractBackgroundThe main goal of wastewater treatment is to obtain high quality effluent. This study proposes a methodology to estimate in real‐time the effluent quality in a biological nutrient removal (BNR) sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process.ResultsThis is achieved by: (i) detecting the batch quality; and (ii) predicting the classification of ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Separating biological nutrient removal by EBPR-PN/A process to treat real municipal sewage

open access: yesWater Research X
The separated biological nutrient removal for treating wastewater has drawn significant interest due to its energy-neutral or energy-positive nutrient removal pathways.

Post treatment of anaerobically treated brewery effluent using pilot scale horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetland system

open access: yesBioresources and Bioprocessing, 2021
The anaerobic process is considered to be a sustainable technology for the treatment of wastewaters rich in organic matter mainly due to its lower energy consumption and production of value-added products such as biogas and organic fertilizer.

Influence of Salinity on Duckweed Growth and Duckweed Based Wastewater Treatment System

open access: yes, 2013
The growth of duckweed (Spirodela polyrrhiza) was investigated in an outdoor batch system under 15 different conductivities ranging from 200 μS/cm to 3000 μS/cm with average 110 µmol/m2 daylight intensity.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Comparative Evaluation of Anode Materials for Electrochemical Treatment of Anaerobic Digestate: Ammonia, Phosphorus, COD and Turbidity Removal

open access: yesEnergies
This study assessed the performance of five anode materials (Fe, stainless steel (SS), Al, Zn, and Ti/RuO2–IrO2) in terms of the removal of ammonia, phosphorus, and turbidity from anaerobic digestate using a single-cell hybrid electrocoagulation (EC ...

Carbon and nitrogen dynamics and greenhouse gas emissions in constructed wetlands treating wastewater: a review [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2016
The removal efficiency of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) in constructed wetlands (CWs) is very inconsistent and frequently does not reveal whether the removal processes are due to physical attenuation or whether the different species have been transformed ...
