Inter-comparison of Radio-Loudness Criteria for Type 1 AGNs in the XMM-COSMOS Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Limited studies have been performed on the radio-loud fraction in X-ray selected type 1 AGN samples. The consistency between various radio-loudness definitions also needs to be checked.

Mixing in two magnetic OB stars discovered by the MiMeS collaboration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent observational and theoretical arguments suggest that magnetic OB stars may suffer more mixing than their non magnetic analogs. We present the results of an NLTE abundance study revealing a lack of CN-cycled material at the surface of two magnetic stars discovered by the MiMeS project (NGC2244 #201 and HD 57682).

Analysis of the Longitudinal Behavior of Serum Levels of Soluble Flt1 and Placental Growth Factor in Pregnant Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study analyzed longitudinal trajectories of soluble Flt1 (sFlt1) levels, placenta growth factor (PlGF) levels, and sFlt1:PlGF ratios in a cohort of pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Blood samples were collected (14–18, 24–26, 30–32, 34–36, and 38–40 weeks), stored at −80°C, and evaluated for serum levels ...

OB or Not OB: Idiosyncratic utilization of the tRNA‐binding OB‐fold domain in unicellular, pathogenic eukaryotes [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2016
In this review, we examine the so‐called OB‐fold, a tRNA‐binding domain homologous to the bacterial tRNA‐binding protein Trbp111. We highlight the ability of OB‐fold homologs to bind tRNA species and summarize their distribution in evolution.

Microstructure, Mechanical Properties, and Antibacterial Performance of Novel Fe‐Mn‐Zn Nanocrystalline Alloys Produced by Mechanical Alloying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the development of Fe‐Mn‐Zn nanocrystalline alloys (0–9 wt% Zn) by mechanical alloying and subsequently hot pressing. Their microstructure, density, hardness, wear resistance, corrosion behavior, and antibacterial properties are systematically examined.

BLOOD LOSS IN MANUAL EXTRACTION OF PLACENTA VERSUS SPONTANEOUS DELIVERY DURING ELECTIVE CESAREAN SECTION

open access: yesGomal Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
Background: Excessive bleeding is one of the major threats to women at childbirth. Blood loss during cesarean section is usually underestimated. The objective of this study was to compare the effects of manual extraction of placenta versus spontaneous ...

Precise OBS location at the sea bottom in active seismic profiles using the air gun shot records [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Norcaribe campaign, in November – December 2013, funded by Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Science (Norcaribe Project CGL2010-17715), was performed on board of the Spanish research vessel “Sarmiento de Gamboa” around the Hispaniola island, also

Deterministic elliptic curve primality proving for a special sequence of numbers

open access: yes, 2013
We give a deterministic algorithm that very quickly proves the primality or compositeness of the integers N in a certain sequence, using an elliptic curve E/Q with complex multiplication by the ring of integers of Q(sqrt(-7)). The algorithm uses O(log N)

A critical remark on the applicability of E-OBS European gridded temperature data set for validating control climate simulations

open access: yes, 2010
[1] The study compares daily maximum (Tmax) and minimum (Tmin) temperatures in two data sets interpolated from irregularly spaced meteorological stations to a regular grid: the European gridded data set (E-OBS), produced from a relatively sparse network ...

2MASS Identifications for Galactic OB Stars [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Cross-identifications for 14,574 intrinsically luminous galactic stars (mostly OB stars) to objects in the 2MASS survey have been determined using a search box of +/-0.0015 degrees (+/- 5.4 arcsec) in both RA and Dec. Instructions on obtaining the relevant files can be obtained at othello.alma.edu/~reed/OB-2MASS.doc.
