Occupational stress, occupational structure and occupational morbidity

open access: yesInternational Congress Series, 2002
Abstract Occupational stress poses a substantial problem in many countries. Its rates of occurrence and its origins are therefore the subject of substantial research. Competitiveness is an increasingly prominent characteristic of many occupational environments and is considered by some to be essential for occupational advancement and achievement ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Occupation Analyzer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The purpose of this project is to develop a text analytical tool in R that can help student job seekers match their resumes against jobs by a mutual similarity scoring to standard occupations as defined by the BLS O*NET database. Part of the terms of job

Qualitative realist evaluation of an occupational therapy intervention programme (ABLE), addressing ability to perform activities of daily living among persons with chronic conditions

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research
Background Chronic conditions are associated with problems related to performance of activities of daily living (ADL) stressing a need to develop and evaluate intervention programmes addressing such problems.

The phosphorylation of Smad3 by CaMKIIγ leads to the hepatocyte pyroptosis under perfluorooctane sulfonate exposure

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) is a persistent organic pollutant and accumulated in the liver of mammals. PFOS exposure is closely associated with the development of pyroptosis. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism is unclear. We found here that PFOS

Therapists’ experiences and needs with regard to providing work-focused care: a focus group study

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2021
Background Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) can create a temporary or permanent disability that reduce a person’s ability to work. Physiotherapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs) and exercise therapists (ETs) are often involved in the early ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
