Exploring Matrix Stiffness‐Related Gene in Periodontitis: A Comprehensive Multidataset Analysis

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Characterized by the progressive deterioration of periodontal supporting tissues, periodontitis (PD) is a prevalent oral disorder primarily instigated by dental plaque biofilms. Matrix stiffness (MS), a key extracellular matrix (ECM) property, regulates inflammatory cell function and tissue repair balance.

A gene panel to predict response to adjuvant chemotherapy and risk of recurrence in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMalignancy Spectrum, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 84-94, June 2025.
This study compared microarray and transcriptome sequencing data generated in colorectal tumors with good response and no response to adjuvant chemotherapy. The study identified the upregulation in two genes (PTGIS/LYVE1) to be associated with no response and risk of recurrence. The addition of drugs targeting these genes may improve response. Abstract

Traumatic Macular Hole: Diagnosis, Natural History, and Management

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Traumatic macular hole occurs most often in young men and can present after various types of injuries. Traumatic macular holes result from anteroposterior and tangential vitreoretinal traction and may exhibit concurrent additional pathologies such as Berlin’s edema and subretinal fluid. Optical coherence tomography can play an essential role in patient

Vitrectomy in Small idiopathic MAcuLar hoLe (SMALL) study: Internal limiting membrane peeling versus no peeling

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 3, Page e156-e164, May 2025.
Abstract Purpose To compare vitrectomy with and without internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling in small idiopathic macular holes. Methods Retrospective multicentre study including consecutive eyes with ≤250 μm idiopathic macular hole treated with vitrectomy. The primary outcome was hole closure rate.

A Comparative Study of Vitrectomy Combined with Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling for the Treatment of Idiopathic Macular Hole with Air or C3F8 Intraocular Tamponade

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Purpose. The treatment of idiopathic macular holes has been basically modeled, and vitreoretinal surgery is recognized as an effective treatment. However, the postoperative tamponade of gas will still make the patient uncomfortable and may have related complications. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether air as an intraocular tamponade is

Vitreoschisis‐induced vitreous cortex remnants in proliferative vitreoretinopathy: A comprehensive review from basic research to clinical practice

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 102, Issue 8, Page 859-880, December 2024.
Abstract Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) significantly impacts the prognosis of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), one of the most critical and increasing causes of vision loss in the Western world. Despite advancements in surgical instruments and techniques, the failure rate due to PVR remains substantial, necessitating additional ...

Release of experimental retinal vein occlusions by direct intraluminal injection of ocriplasmin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose Retinal vein occlusions (RVO) are a major cause of vision loss in people aged 50years and older. Current therapeutic options limit the consequences of RVO but do not eliminate the cause.
