1-supertransitive subfactors with index at most 6+1/5

open access: yes, 2013
We classify irreducible II_1 subfactors A \subset B such that B \ominus A is reducible as an A-A bimodule, with index at most 6+1/5, leaving aside the composite subfactors at index exactly 6. Previous work has already achieved this up to index 3+\sqrt{5}

Human odometer is gait-symmetry specific [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2009
In 1709, Berkeley hypothesized of the human that distance is measurable by ‘the motion of his body, which is perceivable by touch’. To be sufficiently general and reliable, Berkeley's hypothesis must imply that distance measured by legged locomotion approximates actual distance, with the measure invariant to gait, speed and number of steps.

Research on the Shearer Positioning Method Based on the MEMS Inertial Sensors/Odometer Integrated Navigation System and RTS Smoother

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
The shearer positioning method with an inertial measurement unit and the odometer is feasible in the longwall coal-mining process. However, the positioning accuracy will continue to decrease, especially for the micro-electromechanical inertial ...

$G$-odometers and their almost 1-1 extensions

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we recall the concepts of $G$-odometer and $G$-subodometer for $G$-actions, where $G$ is a discrete finitely generated group, which generalize the notion of odometer in the case $G=\ZZ$.

Map Room Conversations: Mapping Objects

open access: yesArea, EarlyView.
Short Abstract This article presents reflections on a ‘Map Room Conversation’ session entitled ‘Mapping Objects’ at the RGS International Conference, 2024. The session considered the three dimensional aspects of map‐making, both the objects and methods involved with producing maps, and the construction of maps in three dimensions in the form of relief ...

Genericity in Topological Dynamics

open access: yes, 2006
We study genericity of dynamical properties in the space of homeomorphisms of the Cantor set and in the space of subshifts of a suitably large shift space.

Homology of odometers [PDF]

open access: yesErgodic Theory and Dynamical Systems, 2019
We compute the homology groups of transformation groupoids associated with odometers and show that certain $(\mathbb{Z}\rtimes \mathbb{Z}_{2})$-odometers give rise to counterexamples to the HK conjecture, which relates the homology of an essentially principal, minimal, ample groupoid $G$ with the K-theory of $C_{r}^{\ast }(G)$.

Tightening the Regulatory Grip: Local Regulatory Stringency and Sectoral Platform Regulation in EU Cities

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Platform companies like Uber and Airbnb are depicted as agile policy entrepreneurs who can navigate the boundaries of regulatory frameworks and manipulate regulations to their advantage; however, recent empirical studies suggest that their capacity to influence policy depends on the particular political and institutional context.
