Disturbance models for offset‐free model‐predictive control

open access: yesAIChE Journal, 2003
AbstractModel predictive control algorithms achieve offset‐free control objectives by adding integrating disturbances to the process model. The purpose of these additional disturbances is to lump the plant‐model mismatch and/or unmodeled disturbances. Its effectiveness has been proven for particular square cases only.

Controller Parametrization for Offset-free Control Using Set-Based Feasibility Methods

open access: yes2019 American Control Conference (ACC), 2019
Achieving a new set point and maintaining it with a desired precision is a common control problem. In case the reference is not fixed, or a priori unknown disturbances are present, the problem is often referred to as offset-free control. We consider the problem of finding suitable controller parameters to obtain an offset-free control up to a certain ...

Combined Design of Disturbance Model and Observer for Offset-Free Model Predictive Control

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2007
This note presents a method for the combined design of an integrating disturbance model and of the observer (for the augmented system) to be used in offset-free model predictive controllers. A dynamic observer is designed for the original (nonaugmented) system by solving an Hprop control problem aimed at minimizing the effect of unmeasured disturbances

Disturbance modeling for offset-free linear model predictive control

Journal of Process Control, 2002
Abstract An offset-free controller is one that drives controlled outputs to their desired targets at steady state. In the linear model predictive control (MPC) framework, offset-free control is usually achieved by adding step disturbances to the process model.

Offset–free data–driven predictive control

2022 IEEE 61st Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2022
This paper presents a tutorial overview of model predictive control (MPC), subspace predictive control (SPC) and data-enabled predictive control (DeePC), with emphasis on offset-free design. Based on recent results on offset-free SPC design and on the relation between SPC and DeePC, we show that when incremental inputs are used in the identification ...
