Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Robust offset-free control of nonlinear systems using model predictive control and integral action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Model Predictive Control (MPC) is an advanced control setup that uses optimization to determine the controlled input. The MPC was initially a linear approach that has grown to include non-linear systems, robust stability, and offset-free control ...

Observer-based offset-free internal model control

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2017
A linear feedback control structure is proposed that allows internal model control design principles to be applied to unstable and marginally stable plants. The control structure comprises an observer using an augmented plant model, state estimate feedback and disturbance estimate feedback.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Disturbance modeling and state estimation for offset-free predictive control with state-space process models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2014
Disturbance modeling and design of state estimators for offset-free Model Predictive Control (MPC) with linear state-space process models is considered in the paper for deterministic constant-type external and internal disturbances (modeling errors). The

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

An MPC-based reference governor approach for offset-free control of constrained linear systems

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a model predictive control (MPC) based reference governor approach for control of constrained linear systems. A nominal closed-loop system is first designed to guarantee that, in the unconstrained case, asymptotic zero-error ...

Mitigating Vortex Splitting by Controlling the Wavefront Isophase Line Curvature of Vector Autofocusing Airy Vortex Beams in Free Space

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
The match between the orbital angular momentum (OAM) transmission and receipt is a prerequisite for vortex beams as a carrier of the wireless optical communication system in free space.

Offset-free Energy-optimal Model Predictive Control for point-to-point motions [PDF]

open access: yes2015 American Control Conference (ACC), 2015
This paper discusses Offset-free Energy-optimal Model Predictive Control (offset-free EOMPC) which is a MPC algorithm to realize time-constrained energy-optimal point-to-point motion control with high positioning accuracy for linear time-invariant (LTI) systems. The offset-free EOMPC approach is developed based on our previous research - Energy-optimal

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
