Exploring the Role of Oleic Acid in Muscle Cell Differentiation: Mechanisms and Implications for Myogenesis and Metabolic Regulation in C2C12 Myoblasts

open access: yesBiomedicines
Background/Objectives: Myogenesis, the process by which myoblasts differentiate into multinucleated muscle fibers, is tightly regulated by transcription factors, signaling pathways, and metabolic cues.

Genetic diversity analysis of high oleic inbred lines in sunflower (Helianthus annuus)

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2019
Sunflower hybrids with high oleic acid content have nutritional benefits similar to olive oil. High oleic sunflower hybrids can be obtained by using genetically divergent high oleic parental lines in heterosis breeding.

Hexagonal spiral growth in the absence of a substrate

open access: yes, 2008
Experiments on the formation of spiraling hexagons (350 - 1000 nm in width) from a solution of nanoparticles are presented. Transmission electron microscopy images of the reaction products of chemically synthesized cadmium nanocrystals indicate that the ...

Lipid storage and autophagy in melanoma cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cancer stem cells (CSC) represent a key cellular subpopulation controlling biological features such as cancer progression in all cancer types. By using melanospheres established from human melanoma patients, we compared less differentiated melanosphere ...

Wet Ball Milling Synthesis of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for High‐Efficiency, Controllable Magnetic Hyperthermia in Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A wet ball‐milling method is presented to synthesize iron magnetic nanoparticles and evaluate their magnetic hyperthermia performance. Optimized particles (∼270 nm, Ms ∼114 emu/g) achieve ∼50°C heating under clinically safe alternating magnetic fields, while pulsed‐field operation enables controlled temperature regulation (∼30°C).

Magnetic Droplet Manipulation on Open Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Recent advances in the manipulation of magnetic droplets demonstrate various manipulations on open surfaces, including transport, splitting, merging, and force‐controlled motion, enabled by magnetic particles and external fields. ABSTRACT Manipulation of liquids on a smaller scale enables applications in various fields, particularly diagnostics and ...

Influence of ligand shape and steric hindrance on the composition of the nanocrystal ligand shell [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Organic ligands play a key role in the synthesis of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals or quantum dots. Generally they consist of a functional group and an aliphatic chain, with carboxylic acids, thiols and phosphonic acids as typical examples.

Endogenous “Time Bomb” – Mislocalized Phospholipase A2 as a Critical Mediator of Ultra‐Rapid Mortality in Sepsis and Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phospholipase A2 (PLA2), a dormant enzyme, becomes lethal when activated—collapsing lungs in minutes. Our dual therapy (DOPS + varespladib) boosts survival from 0% to >90% in sepsis/ALI. A breakthrough for acute lung injury treatment. ABSTRACT This study reveals that phospholipase A2 (PLA2), normally stable and nontoxic, can be activated specifically ...

Oils and fats on food: is it possible to have a healthy diet? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Oils and fats are an important part of our diet as components of many food formulations. Thus, they are retailed for domestic or hostelry uses and broadly used by food industry for the elaboration of margarines, ice cream, canned food, pre-cooked ...
