Molecular Perspectives for mu/delta Opioid Receptor Heteromers as Distinct, Functional Receptors

open access: yesCells, 2014
Opioid receptors are the sites of action for morphine and the other opioid drugs. Abundant evidence now demonstrates that different opioid receptor types can physically associate to form heteromers.

Oligomerization of C99 substrate.

open access: yes, 2012
C99 dimerization/oligomerization was measured using aliquots of C99 substrate that had high activity with γ-secretase in CHAPSO enriched membranes. Oligomerization between C99 molecules was measured using AlphaScreen® technology by coupling both the ...

Rhodopsin Oligomerization and Aggregation

open access: yesThe Journal of Membrane Biology, 2019
Rhodopsin is the light receptor in photoreceptor cells of the retina and a prototypical G protein-coupled receptor. Two types of quaternary structures can be adopted by rhodopsin. If rhodopsin folds and attains a proper tertiary structure, it can then form oligomers and nanodomains within the photoreceptor cell membrane.

Oligomerization of Cry1Ab proteins.

open access: yes, 2013
Panel A, Cry1Ab and mutant protoxins were proteolytically activated with M sexta midgut proteases in the presence of SUV liposomes and scFv73 antibody. Membrane pellets were recovered by centrifugation and the toxin detected by Western blot using an anti-

Trans-oligomerization of duplicated aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases maintains genetic code fidelity under stress

open access: yes, 2015
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (aaRSs) play a key role in deciphering the genetic message by producing charged tRNAs and are equipped with proofreading mechanisms to ensure correct pairing of tRNAs with their cognate amino acid.

Mutational and computational characterization of transmembrane domains in the fungal G protein-coupled pheromone receptors STE2 and Mam2 [PDF]

open access: yes
G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) comprise the largest family of cell-surface receptors involved in sensing a multitude of ligands and are consequently attractive pharmacological targets.
