A physiological approach for supporting oocyte-cumulus cell communication and chromatin remodelling at meiotic resumption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In vitro embryo production (IVP) remains inefficient in both clinical applications of human reproduction and animal breeding and the development of pre-maturation strategies to improve IVP is a mayor challenge in assisted reproductive technologies.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

A novel role for DNA methyltransferase 1 in regulating oocyte cytoplasmic maturation in pigs.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Maternal factors are required for oocyte maturation and embryo development. To better understand the role of DNA methyltransferase 1 (Dnmt1) in oocyte maturation and embryo development, small interfering RNA (siRNA) was conducted in porcine oocytes.

Building a Framework for Sexual and Reproductive Health Care in the Rheumatology Context: Content and Approaches

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
People with systemic autoimmune and rheumatic diseases (SARDs) are at higher risk than the general population of experiencing adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes such as preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and maternal and/or fetal death.

Control of oocyte maturation

open access: yes, 2014
Oocyte maturation is a complex process involving nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation. The nuclear maturation is a chromosomal segregation and the cytoplasmic maturation involves the reorganization of the cytoplasmic organelles, mRNA transcription and ...

In-vitro maturation of human oocytes

open access: yesReproductive BioMedicine Online, 2004
Immature human oocytes can be matured and fertilized in vitro. However, subsequent embryonic development is different when the immature oocytes are retrieved in different situations. Exposure to the LH surge in vivo may be important for the oocytes to acquire the competence for maturation and subsequent embryonic development.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

The Expression of Matrix Metalloproteinases Activated Differently on In-Vitro Maturation of oocytes Cytoplasm and Cumulus Cells in Bovine

open access: yesJournal of Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology, 2018
To determine the differences in the in-vitro ovum maturation process of bovine, we compared the expression of MMPs in these oocytes and cumulus cell throughout oocytes maturated. In an attempt to investigate the effect of MMP activation and inhibitors in

Supplementation of rapamycin during in vitro maturation promotes oocyte quality and subsequent embryo development in bovine

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2023
Background The developmental competence of oocyte derived from in vitro maturation (IVM) is significantly lower than those of oocyte matured in vivo. Rapamycin is an immunosuppressive substance and widely used to prolong the survival and preserve the ...

At Home Detection of Ovarian Health Biomarker in Menstruation Blood

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A lateral flow assay enables the detection of anti‐Müllerian hormone directly in unprocessed menstrual blood using silica‐gold nanoshells and smartphone‐assisted machine learning analysis. The platform supports decentralized, user‐operated testing in wearable and dipstick formats, highlighting the potential of menstrual blood as a non‐invasive matrix ...
