ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Compound-Mirror Open Resonator
Open resonators with compound end mirrors (spherical mirrors with the central portions replaced by plane mirrors) have been theoretically analyzed by the matrix method.

A highly selective tri‐band bandpass‐to‐bandstop filter with the third band independently tunable
A highly selective tri‐band bandpass (BP)‐to‐bandstop (BS) filter with the third tunable band and the other two fixed ones is proposed in this article. This filter is based on a novel crossed resonator that is composed of a two‐end‐open UIR with an open ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

A Compact Triple-Band Negative Permittivity Metamaterial for C, X-Band Applications
We report a new design of triple-band electric metamaterial resonator (TBEMR) based on integration of open delta loops within square ring resonator. This metamaterial resonator has three distinct ε-negative regions (ENG) over C, X frequency bands.

Spatiotemporal Resonances in Mixing of Open Viscous Fluids [PDF]
In this Letter, we reveal a new dynamical phenomenon, called "spatiotemporal resonance," which is expected to take place in a broad range of viscous, periodically forced, open systems. The observation originates from a numerical and theoretical analysis of a micromixer, and is supported by preliminary experimental observations.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Open whispering gallery mode resonators
There are some issues with traditional whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonators such as poor light extraction and a dense mode spectrum. In this paper, we introduce a solution to these limitations by proposing open WGM (OWGM) resonators that effectively reduce the mode density and enable directional radiation through a connected waveguide at the ...
