CKAP4 Regulates ERS‐Induced Apoptosis in Osteoclasts Through FOXO3 in Periodontitis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
CKAP4 promotes the transcription of PERK via FOXO3 in OCs, thereby facilitating ER stress‐induced apoptosis. In periodontitis, the reduction of CKAP4 in OCs leads to decreased OC apoptosis, which exacerbates alveolar bone resorption. ABSTRACT Periodontitis is a prevalent oral disease characterised by chronic inflammation and irreversible alveolar bone ...

Immunohistochemical localization of RANK, RANKL and OPG in healthy and arthritic canine elbow joints

open access: yes, 2009
OBJECTIVE: To determine if the receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappaB-receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappaB ligand-osteoprotegerin (RANK-RANKL-OPG) system is active in bone remodeling in dogs and, if so, whether differences in expression of ...

Choosing Wisely: Key Feature Examinations as a Powerful Approach to Foster Clinical Reasoning in Dental Education

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Clinical reasoning is considered a core skill for physicians, and its training should already be addressed in undergraduate medical education. At the University Medical Center Göttingen, students have been able to engage in formative key feature examinations since 2013.

OPG production by tumor.

open access: yes, 2012
A Starting from the initial conditions described in Figure 3, the RANKL and OPG concentrations, the osteoclast population density (OC) and the tumor density (Tumor) are shown after 30, 60 and 90 days, respectively. The growing tumor produces OPG at rates

Structural and thermodynamic analyses of a novel β‐1,2‐glucan binding mode in the ABC transporter solute‐binding protein Chy400_4166 from Chloroflexus aurantiacus

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cyclic β‐1,2‐glucan (CβG)‐associated solute‐binding protein of type I ABC transporter was originally identified in Chloroflexus aurantiacus, a phototrophic bacterium. Crystal structures in complex with CβGs revealed unique binding modes that are fundamentally distinct from that of the short β‐1,2‐glucooligosaccharides‐binding protein.

Evaluating Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa B Ligand (RANKL) and Osteoprotegerin (OPG) expression during canine retraction: A comparison between periodontal distraction versus conventional retraction

open access: yesJournal of Orthodontic Science
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate and compare the expression levels of Receptor Activator of Nuclear Factor Kappa B Ligand (RANKL) and Osteoprotegerin (OPG) in canine periodontal tissues subjected to periodontal distraction versus conventional retraction at ...

Comparison Between the 2017 EFP/AAP and CDC/AAP Case Definitions on Periodontal Status and Their Association With Risk Factors in an Adult Norwegian Population—Insights From the Tromsø Study: Tromsø7

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To describe the prevalence, extent and severity of periodontitis in an adult Norwegian population, using the 2017 EFP/AAP and CDC/AAP case definitions, and their associations with potential risk factors for periodontitis. A secondary aim was to explore how the stage and grade of periodontitis shifted when complexity and risk factors

Prevalence of Hypercementosis in Radiographic Studies: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis With Clinical Implications for Endodontic Assessment

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Hypercementosis is a non‐neoplastic condition characterized by excessive cementum deposition along the root surface, resulting in altered apical morphology. Although often asymptomatic and detected incidentally on radiographs, changes in apical contour may influence anatomical complexity in endodontic treatment.
