Co-located treatment for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) within an opioid treatment program (OTP) addresses gaps in the HCV care continuum. Few reports have analyzed outcomes related to OUD treatment, such as retention, associated with co-located HCV treatment.Patients (n = 89) treated for OUD and chronic ...

Regulation of dynorphin gene expression by κ-opioid agonist treatment
Neuroreport, 2002The effects of K-opioid agonist treatment on prodynorphin mRNA expression in the rat brain were studied. Rats were treated with the selective kappa-opioid agonist U-69593 or vehicle for 5 days and prodynorphin mRNA was measured on day 8 (3 days after the last injection) or 22 (17 days after the last injection).

Mu and delta opioid receptor gene expression after chronic treatment with opioid agonist
NeuroReport, 1996Levels of mRNA coding for mu and delta opioid receptors were evaluated by competitive PCR in regions of rat brain where adaptive changes in opioid regulation of adenylyl cyclase occur following chronic morphine treatment. Correlation between receptor protein and mRNA levels after exposure to full and partial agonists were also investigated in NG108-15 ...

Abstract After years of failures in managing heroin addiction by both supportive and punitive abstinence-based treatment modalities or incarceration, with or without initial short-term detoxification using an opioid agonist, research into the potential use of primarily mu opioid receptor directed agonist (or use of a partial agonist) in the chronic ...
