An eye on long‐duration spaceflight: Controversies, countermeasures and challenges
Abstract Space flight‐associated neuroocular syndrome (SANS) is a consequence of long‐duration space flight and is detected in two‐thirds of astronauts. In‐flight, this can cause a change in the refraction of the eyes, requiring graded hypermetropic ‘superfocus adjustable’ glasses, optic nerve head oedema and choroidal folds.

Clinical and Experimental Applications of NIR-LED Photobiomodulation [PDF]
This review presents current research on the use of far-red to near-infrared (NIR) light treatment in various in vitro and in vivo models. Low-intensity light therapy, commonly referred to as “photobiomodulation,” uses light in the far-red to near ...

Abstract Pressure ulcers can be common in the elderly, and loss of sensation can play a fundamental role in the development of these injuries. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of age and sex on non‐noxious thermal and wetness perception (via magnitude estimation), alongside pressure‐ and thermal‐pain thresholds, at the heel, sternum and ...

Abstract figure legend Overview of multiscale cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes and how to model and simulate these changes using a human‐based, multiscale computational framework. Cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes occurs at ionic channel, protein, cellular, tissue and whole‐organ level, affecting the electrophysiological function, mechanical

Prediabetic cardiomyopathy is attenuated by hypothalamic PVN oxytocin neuron activation
Abstract figure legend A long‐term high‐fat, high‐fructose diet induces prediabetes with insulin resistance, hyperinsulinaemia, elevated triglycerides and metabolic‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in male rats. Animals developed prediabetic cardiomyopathy characterized by diastolic dysfunction, interstitial fibrosis and tachycardia ...
